BTTT ---- I hope everyone is doing well during this time! I am following up on my initial post from 2016! It has been 4 years and I still have not had any strong leads. At this point it has been approx. 10 years since it has been last seen at a RI car show. I am not giving up and I keep putting my dollars away to eventually remortgage the house to purchase it! HA!

I am wondering if anyone has had the opportunity to assist me? I messaged Franks Auto Top in Providence to see if they have any records of the transaction, vin number etc...

Is there any way to search the license plate number? and then find the VIN number?

Old documents .. that are likely no longer in your family's posession .. would help. Old insurance cards, forms, registration .. etc.

With the lockdown of personal information, the last few decades .. old school research has gotten vastly more difficult. The days of asking cop friends for favors are over.

No old stashed shoe boxes in the attic of their house .. with said papers ??

Seems a similar red car was in a thread .. where it was inside of a wood floored trailer ? Think that's the thread @kiwijeff referenced earlier.

Maybe spend the day .. searching here, for threads with titles like "stolen" or similar. I honestly can't remember that part .. but I do recall the nerfs, the nose, cycle fenders & color.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. Unfortunately my grandfather passed in 2013. I have been searching for the car since then. After going through all his paperwork, I only found the paperwork associated with the magazine and some additional photos of the car.

I have continued to search through the forums here to find the car you and @kiwijeff are referring to. I have not found any that would fit my grandfathers car. There was one, named "1932 FORD ROADSTER & MULLINS TRAILER STOLEN DEC. 2ND 2010 - ALBANY, OREGON" However, the thread does not have an active photo. Furthermore, my grandfathers car was a 33 but who knows how it was titled back in the day.

My overall goal is to buy his first restoration/hot rod, and then own his last restoration/hot rod which he finished when he was 87.

Possibly the reason no one has seen the car is that someone completely changed it somewhere along the line and put their spin on it totally removing the look it had when your grandfather had it. You might have walked past a chopped 3 window in the past couple of years that was that exact car but now has a totally different look.

The guy who bought my old 51 Merc took it completely away from the traditional mild custom look I was after even though he didn't make any serious changes. He just gave it a very non traditional look with most of the same pieces and some real ugly wheels. His car, his money and a weeks time and a very spendy trip to the chrome shop and it can be a traditional mild custom again.

I hope @Mr48chev that you are wrong! :) I just have this gut feeling that the person who bought it in the mid 60's (after sitting in a dealership show room for 2-3 years) still probably has it, that person could have passed away, and it is sitting in a garage untouched. I search CL, FB, and all sites pretty religiously in hopes of seeing it for sale. The important thing is that it was seen at a car show in RI 6-10 years ago and it was exactly the same, but just a different color.

Hey, MGTStumpy, where did you get that magazine? It is addressed to a guy in my home town! Muskogee, Okla. I don’t know anyYerrell’s, but do know some Terrell’s. Wild!

Come on Alan! That ‘s a “ Y”, if I ever saw one! Might be a typo! I knew some Terrell’s when I was younger, here in Muskogee!

I hope everyone’s been cruising this year! Lord knows we needed some normalcy in our lives!
I’m still looking for my grandfathers car! Hopefully there’s someone out there that has seen it! Here’s a photo I found in my grandmothers album of the car!

The answer must be to build one my friend, to pay homage to the path your grandfather took. The world needs another adventure..

Would you believe I was just a few moments ago having a look this particular copy of Car Craft. Bought it about ten years ago off of just because I like the look of your grandads car. Would have liked more info on the build as I think it is one of the most iconic rods that I have ever seen. Sure do hope you can find more info about it and what happened to it. Wish you all the best of luck with that. Here's my copy of that mag
