Hot Rods Rustoleum Turbo Spray Paint

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by A Boner, Apr 30, 2021.

  1. It seems to be sold out at all the stores that carry it near me. Home Depot, Lowe’s and Ace Hardware list it for under $10, ebay and Amazon are trying to cash in on the limited supply and want upwards of $25 a can. Rustoleum claims it should be back on the shelves in late June.

I know you did it as a joke!
But back in the early 1960s here in Miami Fla. ,we had a place called "Johnny an Mack by the RR track, the worlds biggest an that's a fact " >They painted cars for that cost in the 50s,by 1961 they were $19;95,in 1966 I got my used 1959 Mark 4 ,done in Hunter Green for $29;95. It was perfect,no runs,no sags, nothing wrong an super gloss.
Those days are long gone :( That was one monster super Land Yacht. The sales writer told me right off, that is so big,we can't do it for $19;95 ,Aaaa really  LOL,even funny'er now thinking about it !

Spray can,can look awesome, but prep work* is still king. The new big can, with new type nozzle* is a jump ahead. For sprycans.
I paint with a gun, most of my own cars,in my back yard,an mostly with Gloss Rust-Oleum colors. Pretty much same as in video above but with a gun. That's is awesome vid.
This is my hot rod 28,yes it is Rust-Oleum with hardner, even so I always let it stay at lest a week to be sure it's as hard as it gets, before Buffing< been doing it the same way from the first time I painted a car in 1959. And each time after, still drive my 28A I built in 59.
Cost of High Gloss Black is still less then $30 per job. Prep is King!
Next time you hear someone say,my car is only primer cuz I can't aford Shiny Paint ! Ha!
Remember ;That's the point I shake my head at the BS. They should just admit ,they are too lazy!
Pretty redhead girl, also makes car look extra SHINY!!

"My" Home Depot in Tennessee has several displays of it, in different locations. Haven't tried it yet, though.

Glad you shared the video on Rust-Oleum spray paint. I painted my 55 t bird frame with the gloss black Rust-Oleum, used a brush to get it on thicker. Was very happy with the results. I'm painting my 37 ford coupe tribute race car in their performance red.just have the front fenders done so far. I like the way Rust-Oleum flows out and how my grandson could lay it on so heavy without runs.

For a smaller job, too much paint comes out and over paint. Works fine on large areas.

I wonder how the clear holds up outside. The high solid clear I buy in a16 oz spray at a anto paint store by me is $25.00.

  16. I can see this could be useful but the Rust-0leum paint that I have used in the past has faded real bad. It just will not hold up in the sun. I just hope another brand will start making a high volume spray can like this.

  18. I plan to use the regular gloss black for the small things. It’s gotta be the same stuff.
