Hot Rods 61 Falcon hood scoop ideas

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by fadingfastsd, Jun 24, 2021.

  1. Haha nice. Nailed it.

OK, agree to disagree. I'm digging the hood scoop ideas, let's keep it going. There's definitely more Falcon guys that will find this useful.

  2. Back on track, I really like the ~67 GTO hood scoop. I was thinking this grafted into the 61 Falcon hood bulge could be really cool.

Why not........make the Falcon scoop functional and use the Falcon trim AND......two holes cut into the grill with chrome mesh and rings on them. Have the cold air ducted to the "induction system" for a little pick up in the HP department?!
(just the scoop opening will NOT feed enough air to the "induction system" to help power.
Kinda like trying to puke with a rope around your neck!
I'll look for pictures to illustrate what I mean.

Wasn’t picky, a recent post on port matching intake and heads was deleted. Just because the OP mentioned the year of the heads.
    Carry on.

Oh, love the car as is, make the hood scoop look like it was meant to be, none of that drill holes, bolts/rivets/ect. Don’t use something obnoxious, make it look like it was made to be there!

  5. I would love to make a functional grill intake like the Thunderbolt Fairlane. Would be really cool. I do have a nice spare 61 grill I could modify to try and do so. I might just play around with that idea this summer.

I agree with the guys who are saying to not molest the stock hood. Your car is far too clean to do harm to that hood. Find a spare and set yours aside. I am not sure the GTO scoop could work since the stock "faux scoop" is so far forward on these round body Falcons?
My '63 was easy to molest since the whole car was in need of paint, and minor bodywork.

Having owned a '61 Ranchero, I'm in favor of leaving it alone. Never did like the hood scoop that came out in 1962,

  11. Fairly easy to find original. Let me have a look around and see what I come up with.

    I'll be in touch.

    Cool stuff !!!

  12. I like these hoods, like on my neighbor's car, if it was functional

  13. Nice. I was looking at a guys early Ranchero at a meet yesterday, and I'm liking that hood. I looked closer at my 61 hood, and I think it would be fairly easy to cut the front of the hood bulge and use some trim around it to make it functional.

I like your car and I like your asking for opinions for a hood scoop. However, there are rules for this place and others have said, @ Loudbang was just looking out for your best interests. Now, back to the original topic;)

2015 camaro scoop matches the hood bulge perfectly, also the low profile helps with the sleeper look. Going to install on a fiberglass hood, don't want to cut my stocker. I'll post some pics of the scoop sitting on the hood to give you a idea of what it looks like.

Several years back we found a wiped out car in an Arkansas wrecking yard. The hood was still in good shape so my buddy picked it up for me. The hood was a ranchero GT hood. This is not a bolt on deal the bulge part had to be grafted on to my car. They are cool and functional. Don't know what they are worth now. This not my car just a pic of a scoop. 28. Wow this is really cool. Thanks so much for the photoshop work. Looks really good. I'm really thinking about doing this with my front grill over the winter. Will post updates if I do.
