Projects Dodge This - 1939 Dodge Southeast Gasser Build

  1. Back from Farmington NC. Good times even though it was hot hot hot. Found some issues on the car and fixed them. Who knew 4 chickens and 3 dogs could stink up a camper?

  6. Kim went to tractor supply on Mother’s Day and for some reason she thinks they’re pets. I’m hoping this wears off.

  7. Good luck with that !

One year we got a bunch of chicks and kept them in the garage in a heated cage I built till they got big enough to go outside with the rest of our flock. Never again, those dirty, dusty, stinky little buzzards can stay outside like all the other of God creatures! I had this fine dust everywhere, when we moved I had to use a leaf blower to finally De-Chicken completely.

  9. My first job down on the farm when I was about 10 was gathering eggs from the chicken house. Things were going fine until I stuck my hand in a nest and pulled out a black snake…

  10. They are getting to be a mess now. The rooster is sounding off when the neighbor's dog barks so its just a matter of time before the association gets wind of them and then they'll be gone!

There’s a reason they’re called “Cocks”! My neighbor was very happy to help me relocate my first rooster into my freezer, something about the bird singing at 4 AM every morning, I never heard a thing….
We both had never done the chicken thing but we agreed it had to be done. He showed up at my house at dawn on the execution day wearing a yellow rain coat and holding a rope, it went downhill fast from there! I can barely type this now cuz I’m laughing so hard remembering that shit show! We both cry if one of us brings it up and it was almost 20 years ago!!!

The piston to valve clearance looks ok but the piston to head dome is woooo. The .062 gasket is damn tight at about .025 . Not sure how close is too close. The second clay measurement is with the .082 head gasket. It looks better so I’ll probably go with that thicker gasket. Gonna need longer pushrods.

Piston to head around .035 is what I shoot for.

  14. This is the tightest I've ever had them get to the dome. This is just a straight up 392 engine so the dome is attempting to get to 15:1 - which wasn't as much dome on the 5/8" stroker.

I talked to Rob Waldon and he said to take out the gasket and see if it hits or won't rotate, that's one more data point I'll try tonight.

What fuel do you use for 15:1?

  16. X16 is the choice right now. There is no power difference between C16 and X16 but X is like $30 cheaper per pale.

Do not know C16 or X16; but are u allowed to run E85?

  18. The C16 and X16 are VP brand fuels. I think some guys are running Sunoco brand also. You can only run E85 in the AFX class. And then there is Q16 which is illegal to run - it's worth 50HP. But it's real expensive, so the thinking is just don't allow it and save people the money.

  19. The CC check shows 14.6:1 compression so gonna go with the 0.082 gasket. E1A68024-D318-4D66-AA16-C43B8C985EBA.jpeg 2966FD49-72F4-422C-9937-BD8C5331381C.jpeg 17BCF5C3-6CF5-4926-B7FD-CCAB01E0E439.jpeg B19E439C-CA96-4AD0-9DEA-8F2060C3A165.jpeg

Where does the quench effect come into play in a hemi engine?

  22. The intakes are 2.20" . If you set a head down on a flat surface, the head doesn't lay flat because of the valve overhang,
I have no idea o_O maybe @402BOSSMAN can answer that.

You're gonna need to give Nick a call and tell him he's working too hard, he hasn't posted on the HAMB since April.

  25. Gabe won A/G this year. There were a ton of hours involved in swapping engines and transmissions in the heat and it paid off for a top shelf driver.

    Really happy for him!
