Good to know I’m not the only one with a phone like that.

The black, Western Electric, phone on our kitchen wall when I was a kid never broke, never wore out, and you always got a signal. You also didn't have to spend nearly every waking minute on it answering to things you didn't really need to know about anyway. :)

Wow, you had a wall phone?
Somewhere I still have my folks 2nd phone from the 60’s. Sometime in the 00’s my mom was looking at her bill and noticed she was getting charged a small rental fee on it from MaBell, this was well into the Cordless Phone era. She contacted them, they sent her like 300/400 $$, dating back to when the phone couldn’t have been used due to technology changes.

So even with the bad publicity the Eastwood stuff has, since it’s on sale you’re still going to “give it a try”. ?

I was thinking the same thing! I sure hope its cheap enough to deal with getting rid of the mess it may cause.

About the phone thing, I had a landline at my shop up until about 4 years ago. It would still be there if they wouldn't have raised the very basic phone only bill to over $100 a month. I went with a flip phone that costs about $50/ month. I still use that same flip phone, I don't need all the other BS they keep wanting me to buy. Gene

We had a wall phone and, when my dad started making some money, they got a Princess phone for their bedroom. Woohoo. So, talking to a girl meant either sitting on my mom's bed or standing in the kitchen.

I've still got a few of the old rotary style phones around. Before I had a cel phone I would end up using them whenever the power went out. But haven't plugged one of them in now in probably 25+ years.

Our kitchen phone had a real long curly cord for the handset, so we could stretch it out and get pretty far away for a little privacy.

Surprising they use something that will melt in the first place.

I had thought sound deadener was basically just some sort of re-purposed roofing material. Ever picked up a stack of shingles or roofing tar paper? That shit is heavy, and it doesn't melt afaik.

Lets see if this link works: www.soundproffing.com/butyl-vs-asphalt-materials/

It explains the differences between the two primary materials used for sound deadening. The discussed Eastwood stuff that was problemed was asphalt based. The stuff you want to use is butyl based. Gene

We always used 100 feet of string.....in case we needed to make a long distance call.

Sorry for the late response. My son and I bought four cases of the Eastwood material. He used his as part of the sound deadening for his 4x4 Transit camper van project. I used mine on a newer Cooper S for my wife. No issues in storage or application and this was a year after the purchase.
We've also tried the 3M Thinsulate (SM600L) to fill in many of the voids in the van. It has really helped. I've worked successfully with other 3M products in industrial applications. Just one of the reasons I chose them.
    Just my $0.02.
    Cheers!
