Well I might have to start a build thread and when I actually start cutting and welding I will post a link here I have the motor rear end tires and wheels most of the car I haven’t decided on a trans yet it might just be direct drive the one piece I don’t have yet is the injector and that’s a pretty expensive part I’m still saving some coin for a e type Hilborn I have a couple customer projects I have to finish first

    Hey Dean,

You definitely got that right! No question on that topic in my mind. The sound, the fury and intimidation all rolled up into one fast package from So Cal.
A tribute to Mooneyham and Sharpe + others. :44 Thanks...

From the 1960 archive films of my Bakersfield Smokers March Meet. If anyone wants to see just the drag racing action by itself, here it is in living color.

Despite the distance from the starting line, crowded up against the chain link fence, it still was tremendously loud and very fast. IMHO

Can't argue with you Dean, but the stance of the 15 OZ coupe is unequalled. Screams Bad Ass Hot Rod. 82268388_10213455125447340_416827082882940928_n.jpg

The 15oz coupe does look mean but I’ve never seen it make it down the track under full power yet. Nevertheless, the 15oz, the 554, and Hyder’s are all legendary fuel coupes. From the magazines, papers and other old coverage it seems like the Hyder’s coupe actually saw the most track time.

The original / early edition of the 15 oz. coupe was mostly pretty cool. A little high, a bit under-tired. But I'm a fan.
I fully understand that this IS an original, and the picture is from the era...before the 18" x 36" tires..!
While the car was from the area, I don't recall seeing it run at Irwindale.

But it's last rendition, would be plenty hard to beat by any running or not altered. I've seen the latest version make (as Bob notes above) some hearty, partial passes, as many early Altereds did...and still do.

There is a very nice video on you tube of Mooneyham-Sharp and Pure Heaven II melting tires but I don't know how to get it here.

Dean Lowe you again are not wrong lol but the 554 coupe has been recreated several times and darn well and the 15oz coupe is definitely badass but there is just something I can’t shake about the hyder mccloud car maybe it’s because it’s not as well known or been done again but I really like the rawness of it compared to the others the no hood deal just seals the deal I like the green paint and the no mag wheels on it it just looks more obtainable not that a fuel coupe isn’t expensive by any means but it looks more obtainable I will say for sure I sure haven’t been able to come up with a pair of those front wheels I guess I’ll have to make some but they are sure easier to make than a pair of mag wheels

Getting out the suicide door with the weedburners underneath must have been an exercise in agility.

Not sure, but I think that is a Model Y English Ford, the predecessor to the vaunted Ford Anglia. It looks kinda like a tiny '34 Ford sedan.

    ...or maybe an early Austin?

This photo looks strange, like a AA/A doing a burnout at the Rose Parade circa 1962. And the reflection in the door, two farmers standing in a field surrounded by orchards? An “altered” Rorschach test?

It doesn’t look quite like the model Ys I’ve seen. Is that an Austin? I don’t know but I wonder if that cool little car survived?

  27. 1935 Austin 7 Ruby . Thats probably why the 7 is on the door. They don,t take up much space in the garage
