There was just a good news story of a family who just returned from a vacation - visiting every In & Out Burger...50 something of them...was there young son's idea. They said they liked the original 2-lane ones the best!

haha, man, they really had the "in-and-out urge" didn't they. I remember seeing those modified bumper stickers all over Socal when I lived there.

I think the original In N Out was in Baldwin Park and I used to frequent it quite often when I lived there. They were also the vendor for the food at Irwindale Dragstrip for some time, best racetrack food I ever had! They built an In N Out here in Keizer Oregon about a year ago, I think it is the farthest north location they have for now. Three hour wait times and much traffic control was necessary from the moment they opened the door and still is extremely busy! They also have some of the best car themed T-Shirts EVER! Yes, I did cut up some bumper stickers as well.

Now that brings back memories from my childhood in Charlotte. Their ice cream was the creme de la creme, so to speak, and the hot dogs were awesome. I guess they're all gone now, haven't seen one in decades.

Yeah, really miss the HoJos. I think the motels survived longer than the restaraunts. Not sure why they went out of biz......the ones near us in M*** were always busy. I miss their chicken croquets!

The last HoJo motel I stayed in was in Lafayette, LA back in the late ,70s/early '80s. It was kinda trashed out then. The building is still there but it's a no name fleabag motel now (Motel No-Tell?). They were cool in their day with their '50s modern architecture and interiors. Another one of their restaurant items I really liked was their fried clams.

Evidently the motels are still in bidniz, or at least the name is:

That must have been quite a while ago, according to the internet there are 358 locations.

My family moved to Baldwin Park, CA, .7 miles from the original In-N-Out location in 1953, 5 years after they opened.

They are also looking to build another In-N-Out 20 miles north of me, that will save me a 50 mile each way drive to the nearest one.

ROSEBURG, Ore. – Officials with In-N-Out confirmed Wednesday they are looking into opening a restaurant in Roseburg.

This comes after reports the company is also looking into opening a branch in the Gateway area of Springfield, alongside a Chick-fil-A.

In-N-Out recently filed a development application with the city of Roseburg for a site on NW Aviation Drive near the Roseburg Regional Airport.

Company officials said they are “very enthusiastic” about the opportunity. However, it’s still early in the development process. They added that it usually takes five to six months to build a restaurant and open for business once construction begins. No timeline has been released.

“We do know that Roseburg is a fantastic community, and we definitely look forward to having this great location to serve our customers,” In-N-Out said in a statement.

I love the 54's in that picture but, I don't think that guy in the foreground liked the food very well :)

In '62 and later, I didn't get In N Outs, very often because they were the next town over (Santa Ana, CA), but, we got one here (Medford, OR), at least 5 1/2 years ago. Long, long, long lines for the first year, I didn't go for at least 6, maybe 9 months but, not to bad now.

Okay, you just threw me a curve big time. I moved to Salem Oregon in 1967 and I have never heard of this place nor did I know anyone who mentioned it. Searched Oregon history and it looks like the building is still there but it must of changed hands (and names) sometime between 1962 (judging from the 62 Fairlane in the picture) and when I moved to Salem in 67. There was a drive in restaurant with car hops we used to cruise a few blocks north of there so this would have been on the "gut" where we cruised so I am sure I would have seen it! Weird! Mark

Hey, where is everyone? Our group isn't gone yet! Let's at least get a few more pictures to help us remember when social groups gathered in parking lots and driveways.

I thought it looked like ****, but didn’t find any information to go with the picture.

After a little digging - Anne St. Marie in a photo taken by Jerry Schatzberg. The gentleman in the photo is Fabian Malloy.

My dad used to bowl there, in that time period ('59-'60). We also had a '54 but, it was a blue Ranch Wagon.

With a name like wonder bowl it sounds like a "new age" Asian restaurant, like I wonder what's in this bowl?

We lived about 4 blocks from Wonder Bowl. Spent a lot of time in that place as a teenager. Disneyland is about 1/2 mile from there.
