My grandmother was a welder at Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach.

 

1950 something my brother had rubber(?) ones on his shoebox Ford. As I recall, he called them Mickey Mouse white walls.

The Walker brothers prepare all three of their midgets for an early 1949 trip . That,s Marcus up on top, and Alfred on the ground.

 

Tony Bettenhausen proudly displays a huge trophy for his win at a 100 mile midget race on the paved mile track at Milwaukee. His mount is the Ashley Wright Kurtis Kraft Roadster . Mrs. Bettenhausen awaits her chance to get close to Tony.
