The "King" when he was a 22 year old prince. In 1960 NASCAR created a new Compact Sedan Class to run on the new road course. Most of the big names of the day entered the race. The Valiants took the top seven finishing posts, Marvin Panch, in the winning car clocking a top speed of 122.282 mph on the banked oval/road course. A Falcon came in eighth, and the top Corvair in ninth. Richard Petty crashed out on the 2nd lap.

I'm pretty sure that is Joe Schubeck, before he was nicknamed Gentleman Joe. The cowl is lettered Lakewood Chassis, the company Joe started in the mid '60's before he invented hydroformed Lakewood scattershields. Back in the tire haze it looks like the low body fairing for the 'chute with the roll bar higher and that is another identifier of his rail. Some say George Hurst tagged him with Gentleman Joe and others say Ed Iskenderian.
I'm pretty sure this is the "Goose" behind the wheel, making a pass at the Beach. The "Cuda" was not the best handling car in the lights, it could have used some kind of spoiler in the rear, to keep it from wanting to fly. If I recall, Tom rolled it near the top end the first time it went down the track...
