    Well that's pretty fuckin' cool!

I like the pic of it with a stack of Deuce frames in the background.
I think it found a good home.

Reading that the Chrysler was 300” brings back what may have been the limit for blown fuel at that time with the SCTA rules. I’m going to research that in the old rule books I have..my 1953 book shows a supercharger advances you one class. “C” ended at 305. D was anything over 305” so from my reading there was no class where a supercharged engine over 305 could compete. remember there were no lawyers back then rules were rules..
As bigger engines became more prevalent classes were added and actually reversed years later. “A” went big from being small.

Great story, another piece of history technically unmolested…

@jimmy six according to @HEMI32 the car ran in "D" Lakester in '57 or '58 with a 392.

  17. Here's a couple of pics of Ted's Lakester from our friends at the American Hot Rod Foundation:

    Ted Frye - #51 B (blown 392 Hemi) Lakester at '62 B'ville.jpg
image from the George Callaway Collection

Ted Frye gets a pushoff in his Class B Lakester at Speedweek in 1962. Out back in a 301" supercharged Chrysler
outfitted with one of his boss' 5-Cycle cams. Ted was running against his own 240.604 mph record set in '60.

Ted Frye ran this nasty-looking Lakester in Class B Lakester at Speedweek in 1964 as a post entry.
He was after the Johnson &
Shipley record of 255.501 mph set in ’63.
The best Ted could do after a week of trying in his Hemi-powered ride was 231.21 mph which was good for first in class.
Ted was a member of the Culver City “Screwdrivers” and worked for Ed Iskenderian as his on-the-road salesman.

It's really hard to believe how big a behemoth of an engine one can stuff into such a small chassis and the up close and personal relationship you have with the engine and other components...crazy close quarters and a bullet at anywhere near 200...

Actually that info isn't "according to me" ... I got it from the 9th Annual 1957 Bonneville National Speed Trials souvenir program:

Things had to change as engine got bigger. Unsupercharged a 392 would be in D with the 1953 book and it appears to be that was in 57 also. If you notice in the listing for the DClass the first entry has an “s” for supercharged behind the cubic inches that’s under 305. Ted’s 392 was not blown along with others without an “s”.

If you notice in 1958 there is an “E” class in comp coupe with larger engines and superchargers but not in lakesters. You may not believe this but the older guys I knew back in those years said the SCTA did this for safety reasons to try an limit speed. There were also few gasoline classes like they have today. Purpose built race cars could use anything they wanted without restriction. Also in 1975 when I started there were no blown classes either. You were penalized one class in fuel and 2 classes in gasoline classes. Soon after blowers were separated….

    Ahh the good old days..

Can anyone confirm the images I've shared are the same BTR as the Rollbar and exhaust are different in the earlier images shared by @HEMI32...

I suspect it was modded due to rules changing and engine choices...but I am making an assumption...

See the rollbar...higher compared to the drylakes pics...perhaps it's an illusion...there's also a windshield and hinged panel on passenger side of cockpit opening...

Good question because he says he bought the car in '54 with a flathead, then switched to a hemi in '56 but in the Motor Trend article pictures it only has 3 holes and not the same headers as the picture from '57-'58 shared by @HEMI32 .
