You know that 'ol story: man sells car (regretfully), searches for it & never finds it.
    Well I found mine!

What a day Sunday (8/15/21) turned out to be. I Bought my old '54 Ford back that I had in high school!:D I still can't can't believe it! Took this car down to the bones back in the day in autoshop class. But unfortunately had to sell it before it was completed...
    https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/my-project-54-ford.390742/
Kept an eye out for it, but over the years I thought it was probably scrapped :(

In 2019 I bought another 54 Ford to fix up https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/take-2-new-old-ford.1175951/ hoping to get rid of that chip on my shoulder from selling the last one...
On Aug. 15th someone at the Pomona Swapmeet took pics of a '54 for sale on a trailer & posted it on a Facebook Ford group. I instantly knew it was my old car! Had all the markings as well as the photo album of the work I did that was still with it. I zoomed in on the picture, called & made the deal & got her once again!
It's an 11yr time capsule, untouched since I sold it. Last owner just let it sit outside for years:mad:before selling it... I feel like I'm 20 again :D haha.

Only problem now is, I have TWO '54 Fords projects!:confused: Haha geeze!

that's great! i am happy for you. i did something like that, just a little bit different. my first car was a '53 that i had when i was 15. i worked on it till i was 23 then got rid of it. bad move. it wasn't finished and just one day i was tired of working on it. it was a business coupe, with the small quarter window, and i turned it into a gasser. i put a supercharged 394 olds and straight axle, the whole bit. got it running once. i didn't sell it. i tore it apart for the parts and junked the body. i was young and dumb. i started thinking about it some 10 years ago and couldn't get it out of my mind. i would look at every ad and checked out every swap meet. no luck. then one day i was on craigslist and there it was. about an hour away. it was the same as my old one but a '54. close enough. i had seen other ones but not the same, customline, mainline etc. i am going to build it like my other one but with a 460 ford motor. good luck.

Now that's a great story too! I'm sure it'll bring back lots of memories as mine did to me! Good luck on your project!

Yep, I saw that car on the '54 Facebook site. Decent price too. It's great that you got your old car back! Now you've got a complete parts car to pirate the parts you need from. Sell off the parts you don't need to help finance your new project. Also, now would be a good time to start a build thread. You can use some of the pics from 2009 to fill it in. From what I saw in the 2009 post.....great job!

Oh man, I have one expensive "parts car" then:eek: haha. I paid almost double compared to what I paid to get old my high school Ford back. .. also bought EMS floor pans & rockers for it . Thinking I should reassemble the front back & post it for sale. Would feel bad taking stuff off it, too nice a car to steal parts from. But my love lies with my first one....It's a pickle I tell ya!
I might just rekindle my 1st post from '09 once I start my build

That's awesome! Glad you were able to find it and get it back.
I must say that duct tape is the strongest I have ever seen if that For Sale sign lasted the full trailer ride home. It would have been one of the first things to go once I got her back - lol

Thank you! Not to mention that tape being under the blazing sun all day the the car show, think it was like 100° or so peak afternoon

My first '54 Ford was totaled when I hit a telephone guy-wire and did a couple of Joey Chittwood style barrel rolls on main street of all place, not much usable after that fiasco.

Never forgot that car and ended up many years later restoring Brenda's 1954 ranch wagon.

I was able to crawl out with only minor cut's & bruises, the worst cut was to my right arm trying to retrieve my brand new Jimi Hendrix album from the headliner since the car was upside down.

BTW, congratulations on getting your car back. HRP
