    Hello,

Half fender hot rods are not limited to Ford coupes and roadsters. In 1959-60, K.S. Pittman got some new wider/taller slicks for his hard charging red 1941 Willys Coupe for the Gas Coupe/Sedan Class. Note the wheel/rim size difference between the front and rear.

    upload_2021-6-15_4-53-59.png

When we started out with our 1940 Willys 671 SBC coupe, we had Bruce Slicks that were a perfect fit for the 58 Impala during our time trials and tuning runs. The Bruce Slicks fit inside of the rear wheel openings. So, when we build our Willys Coupe, we did not want to make body/fender alterations, so we used the same Bruce Slicks on the Willys Coupe. They also fit perfectly under the stock fender/wheel opening.

My brother knew we were eventually going to have to radius the wheel opening on our 1940 Willys Coupe rear fenders. The Bruce Slicks worked, but with the new compounds/sizes coming on the drag race scene and the top racers using wider slicks, it was a no brainer.

He had 15 inch diameter Chevy rims/9 inches wide made and was ready for the next low cost application for our 1940 Willys Coupe. But, we would have to apply the old radius measurement and do the cut and roll project, too.

...1957 was a really, really good year indeed...Hamber @Chris recently aquired a vintage shell of a Hotrod and this is capture above is part of where it's been...While he has other plans on where to take it, I'm confident it will be period correct and I'm excited to say the least...;)

Always intriguing what shows up on the internet - a couple of New Zealand’s finest from many years ago……..
chopped one was Noel Usherwoods in that form, probably the top show rod in the early’60’s. Currently in pieces somewhere after years of being left outside in NZ’s damp conditions.

...Hamber @AngleDrive's Period 62 Hotrod, it looks ready to Pounce at the Green Light...it's also the focus of an evolving Tribute to past Greatness...To me it doesn't get much better than that...

    Half Fendered Art...

...A Heartfelt Inspiration in Art @edcodesign did for me some time ago...nailed it...cool place too, Belfountain, On. Can...a timewarp Old House...

I just noticed you added a more period correct Headlight style via your artistic vision...cool...

Ed I recently swapped out the Bigcar Headlights for Smaller 7" Sealed Beam Buckets replicas of something period...Dietz or?...

Worked out real good...more period correct for 1963 period and they really are brighter hence safer...

Thanks for the kind words, cool rod. Here is a 1/8 scale model I slapped together following the fender theme. 2D3ED298-3D74-49B3-817E-9B8C4953ABD3.jpeg

A true Cycle fender...it looks 48 and older HD...I truly enjoy seeing these show up...I've seen the later style 49+...Thanks for digging up the history that helps paint the evolving everchanging movement in Hotrod...

I wonder what the Roadster behind is it looks overly long?...
