Never knew Bauder had a 48 sedan. Are you sure you're not thinking of Bobby Walden's sedan? I think Bobby may still own his. Got a picture? Mick
I don't believe that he ever had one that folks knew as his. The car that he was best known for was his 32 Sedan although he owned a good number of nice cars over the years. Snagged from an old Hamb thread. This is the car that many of us studied for hours on end when the photo spread came out in S treet Rodder.
Hello, We lived in Laguna Niguel and Bob Bauder lived in Mission Viejo, He came over to our house to talk about some build stuff he was just starting. He wanted me to take photographs as a progression step by step, for a hot rod project he was going to be doing soon. Then when some photos were finished, I went over to his Mission Viejo house and there, met his wife. The photos were for his personal use and I can't remember if they ever got to a "tech section" of a magazine. But, the cars that were there were not any kind of 1948 Ford Sedan or truck. I had a hard time remembering everything as his place was a hot rod garage. There were plenty of cars in the garage and in his driveway concrete pad. Plus, it was inland Mission Viejo and very hot in temperature. Afterwards, I heard that he had moved to the mountains and we lost contact after that. Jnaki A 48 sedan is distinctive so, perhaps, it was before my/our time or afterwards up in the mountains. His work was immaculate and quite detailed. He was an impressive guy. Thanks for the friendship, Bob.
Hello, Well that was short lived... the date says 1990 and if the American Rodder publication date is correct, it usually takes 3 months for a photo shoot and publication. So, I stand corrected, he did have a 48 sedan. It was after my time with Bob Bauder and his wife when they lived in Mission Viejo. Jnaki It does look like a Bob Bauder build. Very nice. Crestline, CA is the location. Dain Gingerelli once worked for Street Rodder and other publications. Good work and story writing!!!
Yes! That’s the one I was referring to. @Mr48chev , I was one who studied that article also. I’d love to know where the ‘48 is now.
Well shoot, that one slipped past me somehow. As someone else said you can see the Bob Bauder touch on it.
Is this it? No info with it, but I found this photo from November 2018. https://roundsixpod.com/2018/11/27/the-hot-rod-magazine-in-n-out-burger-70th-anniversary-show/
There was yellow 46-48 Sedan that used to attend major events. The distinctive aspect was the miniature horse trailer towed behind, that carried a wheelchair for their handicapped Son.
THIS!*** In another Bob Bauder article he told what the shocks were & why they were very important to a complete handling/riding package. Spring rates & high quality (& dollar) shocks w/stance. American Rodders early days were great. And had a lot of Bob stuff.
Seriously, who starts a thread and lets it die, especially when there is awesome information in it! Oh, ME! Sorry! @Jones St. that article I found I think has that information in it? Yes that is the one I was asking about! I'd love to see it in person. Bauder built great cars! There is a HRBB podcast on Spotify, I highly recommend the Bauder Bros. and John Robinson episodes!
