Does anyone know what year frames are interchangeable with a 1930 Plymouth U Sedan. I would even consider a after market frame. Previous owner tried to install a Vega 4 cylinder and manual transmission. In that process they cut up the old frame to try and make it work. Help would be appreciated. Thanks Mark

How bad is the original? I would think it would almost surely be less work in the long run to repair and reinforce the original frame than to try and adapt another make/model frame and deal with all the downstream effects that will have.

Looks like rear part of the frame is in good shape. The engine bay has been cut up and rigged for new mounts. The transmission mount is gone and they partially welded and bolted in something different.
I was curious if there was something else out there. If need be, I will fabricate new crossmember and replace part of the frame in the engine bay.

How about providing us a picture of your frame? There won't be any aftermarket frames for your car.

  6. A little off base here BUT why on earth would anyone want to put a VEGA engine in anything?? They weren't even any good In a Vega for Chrisake.... Sorry if I stepped on anyone's toes. Mitch

we once cut the motor and tranny mounts on a vega lying on its left side... so we could get at the steering stuff...

Nothing will interchange cleanly other than another Plymouth frame, so you will be doing at least that much and then some on any other frame you start with. Sticking with the original frame saves you a lot of trouble unless it is bent/severely generally rust compromised, or unless you are planning to drastically change the drivetrain and suspension regardless.

Seconding RMR&C. We wanna see the old iron!

If you know how to weld then just repair the frame an use what you have as there isn't any aftermarket frames that are cheap for mopars
