Hey Everyone, So - it's been about 8 months since I last got to spend any time or even follow up around here, even with those who live in my own backyard (Stig - looking at you!). In that time, I finally moved from Salem to Roseburg, Oregon and got setup into a new shop that needed everything (power, air, etc.) on top of trying to setup a hobby farm stead complete with fencing and chickens, and what not. It's been a journey! But - I am happily setup now, have the '53 in the shop, and spot-welded in a section of Quarter panel/door jamb, and passenger rocker. I hope to catch up with you all and hopefully post more progress! Right now the frame is on the lift awaiting hardware that was missing from a tubular control arm upgrade on the front and starting the build of the 408W stroker that I had built over the spring.
I like it! Send your address, I'll move in. There's a show in Winston this Saturday at Riverbend Park. I'll be there on my bike.
Great to hear from you! I really like the look of the new shop, I wish I had a lift like that. You will wonder how you got along without it in the past. Mark
That's a nice looking shop and a lot of work! My wife is from Roseburg, we go up a few times a year to visit family. Are you and the other OR guy's going to the swap meet on the 25th & 26th of this month, at the fair grounds? https://bettercarshows.com/the-roseburg-meet/
I’ll be there. My parents are coming to town and this is a perfect outing - my dad was in the Coast Guard when 9/11 happened and it changed our lives…I never thought he would ever be deployed growing up and I was a senior in high school…. Anyways - I’ll introduce you to him when I see you!
I’m definitely going to check it out - I didn’t realize how much of a car culture there was here in Roseburg until we moved here. I guess the 10 auto parts stores in a town of 26k should have given it away.
Thanks! It’s been a ton of work - I scored that lift from my real estate agent of all people! I told them what I was going to do, and they hooked me up - another client selling their shop needed to get rid of it…of course it meant adding a second meter, installing 220, digging trenches and a lot of headaches, but like you said: when I finally start to put this car together I’m going to appreciate it.
