  1. I like this, subtle straight lines suits yhis car, so different from the Fairlane/ Vic style swoop down the side

Finally got her all in one solid color of epoxy primer. She is a long way from finished but at least now she is starting to look like something to the untrained eye. Here is a little walk around video showing how she looks today. The missing trim is on my work bench at the moment getting some dings knocked out so excuse their absence in the video.

Looks and sounds great. For the next video, are you going to put the camera on the dash and take us all for a ride?

Not much of an update but I bought some $18 hi/low horns off amazon and was able to get them installed and working with the help of the @hotrodreverend blog. They are plenty loud! I also got the missing trim polished up enough to run for now and installed so that both sides of the car match again.
I initially wanted to leave the Ford badge on the decklid as the last tip of the hat towards the cars true identity but now with the car being nosed and shaved I'm reconsidering that. I already have the remote cable installed to pop the trunk so I guess there is nothing left but to do it to complete the transformation into a custom.

Got the remote pull cable for the drivers door installed as well as the door popper. Now I can roll the windows up and secure her a little better when I'm not keeping an eye on her. I've also nicknamed her the Kovid Kustomline as I have been using most of my lunch breaks and "smoke breaks" to make progress since I have started working from home.

A few more updates. I recently shaved the badge/lock off the rear deck lid so now I can truly call her a kustom.

With the last Ford badge removed I decided I needed to create a show board so that the untrained eye would know exactly what they were looking at when they see her at a show.

And then just yesterday my dad and I got his '56 together with my '55 for an old school/new school picture in front of a local community college which was once an elementary school.

I consider his to be more of a new school custom. Mainly because of the lack of white walls and having modern wheels. Here are some more pics of his.

That is two exceptional cars, the '56 is a beauty and appears to be a top notch build and the '55 has a unique understated look, that's not easy to pull off but the***** is in the pudding congratulations to you and your dad. HRP

Classy is neither old school or new school, other than the wheels that car (the 56) could have been looking like that 40 years ago and it still would have been outstanding. Your 55 would have been outstanding in the 50's and is now right on again in the 2000's but there would have been a time it would be considered "dated" (man I hate that term) where I think the 56 is timeless! I especially like the design of the interior, again in my eyes it is classy. Just my opinion. Mark

Thanks all for the comments on our cars and I guess I was incorrect in calling them old school and new school. Perhaps "timeless" and "traditional" would have been a better fit, better yet I should remove the tags and just let them stand on their own. Either way, it was great being able to get these two together for this picture.

It's hard putting some cars into a specific category. Upon rethinking, I agree with your first calling.........the wheels, tires, and stance being the defining point.
I have no idea what category mine falls into..........I guess I always liked the "restomod" term, but that seems to have gained a negative feel to the term in recent years.??? Maybe just a Hamb thing, but it's not heard too much anymore. I think it would fir your Dad's as well.
What seats did your dad's car start out with before being transformed into that really classy makeover?

He started off with the bench seat that is now in mine which was in better shape than the original one in mine. He also knew that he wanted a custom console in his so he went with the T-bird buckets and we swapped the bench seats in mine.

Not much of an update as far as the build goes but one of my indoor winter projects was getting rid of an old entertainment center we no longer used. As I was disassembling it, I noticed the chipboard back was large enough to fit the rear package tray template I had recently made. This is what I came up with. The plan is to have the upholstery cover the speakers so that you don't know they are there, which is the reason for the holes.

Package tray has now been covered and the door cards cut. Starting to get it to where you don't have to be current with a tetnus shot to ride along.

Looking good. I did door panels for my '53 last weekend. Getting the clips positioned right was the hardest part.

I actually havent drilled the holes for the clips yet as I've been pretty nervous about them. My cards are currently in place with just the door and window cranks as well as the interior garnish moulding. New clips are arriving Monday. Any tips for drilling the holes?

I didn't have to drill any holes. On mine the clips slip over the edge of the panel cards and fit into holes in the door. You have to place all the clips and hope they don't move before you glue down the covering material. The first one I did two of the clips moved and didn't line up. But on the rest I was more careful and didn't have issues.
