Doing a search for the top you are wanting, I got confused pretty fast. Is this the top you have in mind?

Is this the top you have in mind? Well, no. It looks like that Hardtop roof is as long as the 2-Door. I'm talking about a roof like the difference of a 50 Ford Coupe and a 50 Ford 2-Door Sedan. It looks like they both used the same decklid, but the length of panel between the front of the decklid and the rear window was far greater on the Coupes. I always thought the Coupe was far better looking, and would the same treatment go good on a 53 or 54 Plymouth or Dodge.

I ain't thinking of cutting this one up just to find out.

 

Maybe this helps to identify the right version.......

 

I cannot see a 2 door coupe that looks to share the roofline or the decklid with the business coupe.
I am probably missing something... A lot of photos and info here......

Here's how it might look still using the rear window...

 

I figure if Plymouth did make a business coupe, it'd be one of these two ways. Either with a shorter quarter window and longer tulip panel like below


Or with a 4 door front door but the same size quarter window, which would have been less tooling for them and created a shorter roof, like this.

So is the car you are thinking of modifying is a '54 Plaza Business Coupe as shown in the photo? It seems that that the car picture was the shortest roof/longest decklid made. I get what you are saying about the Plaza Club Sedan and the rear quarter window difference. It looks like the Savoy Club Coupe shared the same rear quarter window as the Plaza Business Coupe. Here is an image of the an even shorter roof version. I removed the Savoy chrome side moulding to make it more Plaza-esque...

 

I think you guys all figured out what I was looking for. Plymouth took the cheap way out. No back seat, no roll-down rear windows, no rear arm rests (no seat), etc. When I took this one apart there was a receipt for about $31.00 for the stainless that the dealer added around the lower part of the roof. Plus they also painted the cardboard side panels a dark green to match the factory front ones -- and added some sort of seat. It had the new (to Plymouth) TorqueFlight which I understand got a different compression-ratio engine. Sorta a Pro Stocker (sure!).

It doesn't look much better with the shorter roof, but I took care of the motor with a 354" Hemi. Thanx to you all for the exercise. (Still like the look of the 49-50 Ford coupes better than the 2-doors.)

 

I think a shortened fastback roofline is in order......

 

...I think the orig .Plymouth was a perfect design,...just my 2 cents, which ain't much, love to have one or a wagon.

 

Here's one I did back in 2017. Took a Ford roof and transplanted it to a Plymouth.
Easy enough in pixels, much harder in real life!

No need for any outside photo hosting web or company. Just save it to your own device folders or laptop/desktop computer files.

1. Send your photo to your tablet photo folder as a jpeg. or to a laptop/desktop computer.
2. Once the photo is located on a file folder, then open it up to check the focus and
composition. A blurry photo ruins everything, so use your laptop/desktop photo
program to get the right size for a good in focus photo.
3. The composition is important as it is the car being shown, not people, houses or
trees/grass.

4. Once the photo is finished, then copy it to a Word Document to place is correctly. Once
pasted, copy it for insertion on this reply page. there is no need to hit the upload tab,
although that works, too.
5. Once pasted, before you post it, make your adjustments. If it has some errors, you can
always delete it and try again. no need to post the largest photo you can. some phones
create large photos, so you can edit them before posting.

Ok, so I had to sell my 39 Deluxe Coupe to settle some things BUT I was able to bounce back by getting another 39 Deluxe Sedan this time. This one has a 48 Flathead v8 with some goodies and a C4 auto trans/Granada rear, 56 F100 brakes.
The color is a Ford Medium Wedgewood Blue. I plan to change the wheel color for now but not sure what do go with. I’m also not sure if I wanna stick with Black walls. Down the road I’m thinking halibrand style wheels big n littles with black wall tires. Please show me your ideas. These are the only pics I have so far since it’s not in my possession yet. Thanks so much!

They have a four door '39 Merc at Squeeg's Kustoms, they are making it into a tudor, it IS FANTASTIC...

 

I did this some years back. If you search "Chero" you'll find discussions about what a great truck this is and the person who built it has some skill. Sad to say I built it but only in my mind.

 

Come on man, everyone knows craters only look good on Dodges!
