On 21 September 1945, Henry Ford II had been named president of Ford Motor Company, succeeding his grandfather Henry Ford. Just before receiving his new position, “Hank the Deuce” personally delivered the first civilian car off the assembly line to President Harry Truman at the White House. The car was a 1946 Super DeluxeTudor which came off the line on July 3.

I am going from memory and I know you, wicarnut, know your Indycar history way better then I. Isn't this fire at Milwaulkee the one where his brother was pictured carrying TWO 70 lb. fire extinguishers to the wreck. As I remember it was a big distance from the pit, would have been a feat just to run there emptyhanded. He probably saved Jim's life doing that.

 

NoboD Pete was the first to herk at Milwaukee with the extinguisher.

 

Now my Mom, would have us line up tall to short being a military wife.

can you imagine the bill for all those weddings!

 

That’s not what noboD was telling us. I’m guessing more than one went to the fire and it’s possible that Jim’s brother carried two 70 pound extinguishers down to the accident scene. When it’s your brother adrenaline kicks in big time….

 

And the dog is probably a female too.
