That 57 with the poncho was in one of the Hot Rod Deluxe magazines. Saw it at the reunions it's pretty cool
I think this is as good as any for this one. Probably a few old timers here. I seem to remember that NHRA Gassers had to have a grille of some kind. I see lots of modern "gassers" with no grille, especially 57's. I think they look bad like that . 56's too. I don't recall seeing any 55's with no lower fender extension, no parking lights, and no grille. I won't even get into the no hoods right now. I know Quain lets his guys run with no grille, and that may have been a southern outlaw track kind of thing. So, if anyone has an old rule book from about 1965 and/or a picture of a nationally competitive tri-5, please post it. Thanks
Yes . Good example. Shake, Rattle & Run has a single cross bar too. Was that enough to fulfill a grille rule?
I saw that on a trailer at the Love’s Truck Stop in Williams, Az right after the guy got it and was hauling it to California. Had the scariest front axle I’ve ever seen, there really wasn’t much left after they got done lightening it!
Extreme lightening of the front axle but then those beef-supreme steel braces holding that Moon tank up! Interesting.
Brad Wainrights 55 is kind of a local legend. Its been a race car a long time and it gets down! Shown here next to my 32, i love brads car! Black betty
Tuesday I was heading to South Dakota and was somewhere in Iowa, I think. Running south on interstate 29 was a black 55 Chevy, gasser style, with a red roof, I think the roof was red flake. It had writing on it but I didn't catch what it said. It looked to be running along pretty good, and look good doing it. I was surprised to see it. It could have been this car.
