Same place, a different Saturday night. I lived pretty close to Sunset Blvd., could walk there and back. The regulars included the Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention. You could see Otis Redding, Jimi Hendrix, whoever was in town. I saw the Kinks, The Who, Cream, Led Zeppelin, Blondie, Talking Heads, Elvis Costello, hell, more groups that I can remember. I was there so often one of the managers gave me a pass to get in, never had to wait in line. And down the street on Santa Monica Blvd., Doug Weston who owned the Troubadour gave me a pass too. I was at the first concert that some strange British piano player did in America, on his first performance in the U.S.; Elton John. The 1960's in So Cal was a special part of my life...
