Hi I just inherited my Dads 1955 customline 2door with the 272 engine. It has 59,503 miles and is totally rust free as its been in a garage forcthe past 25 plus years. I think i want to do a engine swap and geard a lot of guys saying the 390 bolts rite in. Im a all Ford guy as I own a 70 Maverick 2001 f-350 and a 2008 f-350 Ive always loved my Dads 55 and he has owned it since around 1982 and the car wasbowned by a couple from cape cod m***. Any ideas lets talk thanks yall

Oh I hear you cause everything rusts out bad here in m*** with there liquid salt that eats everything in site and kills everything on the sides of roads. The car has been well taken care of for its age and been stored for the past 26 years. It in amazing shape. Thank you

Welcome to the HAMB. You've got the start of something really good there. I destroyed a couple of those on dirt tracks in California. Wish I still had all the chrome and stainless that I threw away.

  7. that is a mighty fine car you have there! welcome to the HAMB, though i prefer a more-door for cruising, i still love the look of a coupe.

  8. Welcome, My first car was a Maverick I always have thought they are an overlooked body style but they are OT here so let's just concentrate on the 55. If it was me, I would keep an eye out for a 292 or a 312 and stick that in. Until that time, just do the fix up on the rest of the car and drive it as it is.
Remember the old saying.... Y blocks are cool! well, it should be an old saying!
