I have followed many build threads that just STOP mid-build. Please, if you have a build thread that has stopped for some reason other than you just keeled over dead, tell us followers what happened -
    - it got finished
    - it got sold or traded off
    - you lost interest and quit working on it
    - "life" interfered - illness, divorce, finances withered, etc.

Admittedly I have a couple of build threads that have been ongoing for several years. Occasionally I do post a message to let readers know "I'm still here. I am still working on it. Here is where I stand, here are my future plans for the project".

Please do not keep us hanging...

Common courtesy! Not so common anymore.

While I agree with you in principle, you might be surprised at how many builds are stopped by the death of the builder. And I also suspect that many "my life got in the way" situations involve circumstances that preclude or discourage the builder from coming back onto the HAMB. But, yes, I agree: inquiring minds want to know.

I know pw. I get that. I try to never pry into anybody's personal life and know some "life experiences" are personal.

There were some great builds started, many by very talented builders, with lots of good photos, sure would be nice to see some updates on the projects. Lack of funds and interest slow most to a halt.

My build threads are on two other sites, some stuff won't meet the traditionalists approval. So, I respectfully don't post much about mine. Anybody interested will have to send a PM and I'll direct them to them.

Good reminder. I try to update mine every now and then with the status...right now, that would be diverted attention and not much movement on either of the actual builds.

I usually update mine with: "sold the (_____) bought a (_____) 'cause... and then give some lame reason why I just had to have the latest car I bought!

Sometimes it's lack of interest from the readers or the only people interested are those that want to bash you, it's easier not to post and let the self righteous go inflict their oppion on someone else,
I still have my projects, some are close to running again and one isn't and I still work on them every week, work gets done rather I post about it or not.

My progress is sporadic and mostly kind of lame so I try not to post about every nut I tighten on my jalopy. Also I think only like 5 people check the thread anyway.

Originally it was about looking for some help getting my bearings with my first project car, but now I mostly use my thread as a journal for major jobs on the car/stuff I might need to refer back to later, and a place to ask questions that aren't worth their own thread. I'm glad some people enjoy following along, and I figure maybe someone googling around for answers to what they might think to be a stupid question might stumble across my thread and get some help that way.

I don't remember ever getting bashed for posting an update and I sincerely appreciate my five regular followers.
It would be a cold and lonely thread without you.

I think part of it is the effort it takes to do a build thread, sometimes after awhile its just not worth it. I imagine a lot of cars get finished but the documenting isn't as rewarding after awhile so the thread goes dead.
You can post up something that documents a part of your build that you believe to be relevant, cool and technical and get all of 5 or 10 likes and no responses, post one picture on social media and get a thousand likes overnight.
I know personally I just do my threads on here to have a chronological reference to look back on, basically just for my own enjoyment and documentation. If I did it expecting to get more appreciation from my peers, I probably wouldn't be doing them honestly.

But there's also a million reasons people don't finish their cars, I doubt my ability and desire to continue all the time, if I wasn't so stubborn I doubt I'd have finished anything. lol.

Some threads actually ask for opinions, ideas and guidance. It is completely ok to give an opinion (respectfully) if you have been invited to do so. Build threads are not in this category. It must be disheartening to put your build up for all to see, only to be criticized by those that have nothing better to do than bitch and whinge. Constructive opinion and criticism is fair enough, but many opine simply because it is not to their taste. This is neither necessary nor cool..............

  25. For me work has been busy, it gets too hot for me during the summer (I'm a baby I know) and my brain miss firing. I've been laying low for a couple of months, the weather has changed, my mood has changed and the fire is lit. Cleaned up the garage, sold some parts, bought some parts and it's back onto the '28.

Sadly I bought an o/t motorcycle to commute to work, I still drive my cars to work but it's when I WANT to now. I hated all the morons on the road that treated actual driving 2nd to everything else and was afraid for my cars. Bonus is I get home quicker and my g/f says my attitude has improved.........pfff like I have an attitude problem.

My current build thread is approaching the four year mark.
There were a lot of distractions and not many posts in the first year or two,
then pretty steady progress for more than a year, now it has slowed a bit again.
Lots of reasons for the slow downs but no excuses.
Not a ton of replies to the thread, although I do see it does get looked at.
    That does help motivate,
    and I'm happy to share.
