Hot Rods clunk in reverse

    i have a 327 with a tubo 350 2500 stall when you put it in reverse when warmed up it make a clunking sound . it does not do it when cold . motor mounts are good trans mount is good

    Best to get it up in the air. Have a buddy work the controls, at your direction.

    I’m not being a smart ass but the anti clunk spring for the low one way clutch may be broken and or the case lugs are worn.
    Could also be something in the differential.

    ring and pinion backlash, excessive wear in driveshaft yoke and/or trans output shaft splines...
    are a couple of things that come to mind as 'possibilities'. no doubt there are others as well.

    That would be the easiest to fix.

    Those are all honest possibilities along with the U joint.

    Got a buddy who works at one of those quickie oil change places where they work down in the pit under the car? That would make finding that clunk real simple.

    it might be in the transmission. i am going to put it on a rack tomorrow and check the trans mount u joints and yoke ,

    Check the u joint first because that is easy.

    Check the modulator on the back of the transmission, and the line needs a good vacuum source. My off topic Corvette vacuum source line was made with a pin hole restrictor from the factory. Opened up with a pin vice drill bit, and backed off a couple turns on the adjustment. Made a huge difference. Shift kit???
