I feel that every time you re-post you should add another picture to tell something new about the vehicle or item. When you run out of details or pictures, pull the plug and just let it sit it the rear of the garage.

I just had a load of gravel delivered, and the guy was looking around at all of the old cars here. He asked what those old fenders were off of? I said those are 28-29 Model A sedan, he asked if I'd sell them, I said sure, he asked how much? I told him whatever made him happy. I guess that was weird because he left, and the fenders are still here! I would've given them to him! He also asked about a radiator that is leaning on the side of the shop, I told him it's a factory replacement for an AD truck, same deal, give me what you think it's worth to you. It's still leaning on the shop lmao! I'd rather see this stuff get used!!!!! There have been a few of you guys, and you know who you are, that have sent me parts for free!!! And paid to ship them! My wife called me at work one day and said there's a wooden crate on the back porch that's so heavy i can't move it! It was a freaking T10 4 speed transmission, from one of the guys here, and he wouldn't take a dime from me! This place is full of damn good people. :D

Just take a look at some of the cars that are listed For Sale on the HAMB because some of them have been for sale for 3 to 6 years and have never changed the price.

    What are they thinking?
Many people just love their cars and maybe just hope one day a large fish will stop by and take a bite.
It's a crazy way to sell a car, and I have no explanation why anyone would list their car for years and just keep doing in week and week out for many years.

.......Yea, but as a seller, don't you just really love getting half-price offers, sight unseen, from flippers?.......

All seriousness aside, I'm almost to the point of doubling my asking price and posting only the "good side" photos. Then when a buyer contacts me with a half-price offer and I determine that he's a flipper, I'll tell 'em, "We have a deal. Send me the money". But if I sense that he's a straight shooter, I'll then send him the 'real' photos, description, and my actual fair price.
    I hate flippers.

I don't sell a lot here but I do on occasion. Generally I will search ebay to see what the thing I am selling has been selling for (selling, not just listing for) and price mine just under that.

Just rambling.........car prices seem to me to be pretty crazy right now. I told my wife I was half tempted to list my car for some crazy price just to see what happens.

I got involved with '32 Ford's a very long time ago and the parts have always been expensive, the day of the 100 dollar Model A radiator shells has come and gone also. HRP

I don't understand the sellers that would only take paypal friends and family. I offered to pay the additional fees, but no dice.

Sure, you may not be a scammer, but you're doing all the things a scammer would do. At least one of the sellers was a long time member.

He wouldn't send me the item first and then let me pay, so I guess he expected trust to go one way?

    Makes no sense to me.

  12. I list junk on a few places locally, and every 6 months or so, I have a good look at the stuff, and remove the "turkeys" which have had little or no interest. They then go to the s**** pile. That's when you get a message saying "Is that XYZ for sale still, I will be in your area tomorrow?".
The ads that get me are "best offer" or "make me an offer". If I want to go to a never-ending auction, or get the "I know that old car parts are worth hundreds, so your offer is nowhere near what I think it's worth", you'll be the first to know. Put a damn price on it, and if you find out later that you gave it away, I will send you a handkerchief so you can have a little cry.

Too many sellers don't participate in the discussion threads at all, they're only here for the For Sale forums.

I feel like you should have to contribute to the rest of the forum to use the cl***ifieds. A lot of sellers in there don't post anywhere else. Kinda lame how many of those users have been on the HAMB for years with post histories that consist entirely of "bttt". Wish we could weed out the flippers and gougers especially. Snapping up a good deal from a guy trying to help out a fellow rodder then turning around and trying to flip it for double or triple is just ****ing s***my...

Other thing that grinds my gears is when dudes take the price out of the ad after their item sells. Makes it that much harder for me to figure out a fair asking price when I go to sell something similar.

I have discovered that nobody wants my extra parts, at any price it seems. I have given some away though.
Anyways, in light of all the material and parts shortages lately, I think I'll just keep everything.....I might need it.

Do this, Wear a HAMB shirt to a reasonably large swap meet and then count the number of people you run into who say they check the cl***ifieds every day but seldom come on the board. There are plenty of guys who check it every day.
I agree that a lot of those sellers seem to be on fishing expeditions looking for ****ers who have a serious case of gotta have now. There are also the sellers who don't have to sell a piece but list it because they don't need it hanging on the wall anymore but don't care if they sell it or not.

Most of the time I am like HRP in that if I put something up for sale it is because I want to get rid of it and am willing to bargain. I sold an F-1 Ford ch***is last year that I had bought and pulled the steering box, front brakes, front shock brackets and crossmember and pedals off. I listed it for what I paid for it a few months before and a couple of guys drove 180 miles to get it. They paid me the full price without a quibble but truth is that kid was going home with it no matter what he offered me. He just didn't try to get a better price.

I have a vivid picture of him waking up with his eyes glued shut from the sandman, going over and ******* all over the closed toilet seat, turning around and catching his pinky toe on the door jam and stepping on the dogs' tail with the other foot. Then going straight to the computer to rag on us poor unsuspecting Hamb members that can't figure out what we did. It's okay to be on the rag now and then, just be sure that it's an oily shop rag. Bwaaaa ha bee atch.

What gets me are the ads that say "not looking to sell, just testing the waters" WTF? Are we swimming or trying to sell something? What it really means to me is that what they have is a POS and they are looking for some poor fool to pay stupid money for it. JMO.

Had an old guy tell me once that if somebody doesn't put a price in an ad, it's because they're ashamed of what they want for it lol. I just get excited when I see something new in the parts for sale, even if I don't need it lol. I used to build rigid choppers, and I was on a forum for that stuff, there was a thing in the cl***ifieds that was pretty cool, you put some stuff in a flat rate box, throw a price on it, say $20, but it had to have more than $20 value. It was a surprise box, you didn't know what was in it. Hell it could be a $100 box, but the contents had to be worth it. And the deal was that if you bought the box, you had to post a box for sale. It was always a blast. I have a **** ton of tools that came out of those boxes.

The truth !!! Yeah I don’t mind helping a fellow hamber anytime . I have talked on the phone to quite a few hambers about parts but when I know it’s a flipper on here , not interested. Same when they tell me what they are going to pay , how they will pay and then want shipping thrown . Nope !!!

The cl***ifieds here have gone downhill in the last few years. I used to sell a lot here but more and more here guys want something for what it sold for 5-10 yrs ago not the now prices. Just like the restoration guys who want to pay prices of years ago. Supply goes down prices go up it's a fact of life

And I've still got the flywheel you wanted and I'm still going to bring it to you. Just not right now;)

  28. If something I have listed gets no response in a month or so, I ***ume nobody wanted it. There's a good chance that at the next city wide clean up, it's going to s****. I live 50 miles from a salvage yard and would never have enough to warrant a trip to sell. I also have very limited storage space. I have heard many times in my life "if I can't get my price, then I'm not going to sell it. " I've never been that independent. :) I see no fault with Loyd's statement.

I seldom look at the cl***ified section here. Wish it didn’t show up when I hit the new posts ****on, cluttering up the board posts. If I want to look at it, I’ll go to it. Most everything there is overpriced IMHO, although I have seen a few deals here and there. I’m a cheap bastion, so I buy cheap stuff when I need something. Not much there for my car, either. I’ll stick to the bay and maybe FB Marketplace, but the latter is turning into a circus anymore itself....

I've bought quite a few parts from the cl***ifieds here, and I've never asked the seller if they'll take less. I have asked them to check shipping cost, and then decided to p*** on the item, just because I couldn't pay the shipping price, that's not the sellers fault though, and I hope they understood why I didn't buy it. I've stuck a few things on there for sell, haven't sold anything. But if it meant that somebody could benefit from a part that I have and they can't afford it, tell me, I'd just ***ume give you the part, because I obviously don't need it.
