I just updated two listings that SOLD, I think the price gets removed automatically. I remove all but one photo, figure that saves Ryan band width.

C'mon Alan! How you expect me to finish this thing without that flywheel??? Oh that's right, I stuck an automatic in this one lol, brother I don't gotta have it, but I've collected a transmission, bellhousing, and a shifter. One of these days I'll switch it all out and be the coolest kid on the block :D

The cl***ifieds here work if you price something reasonably. I have sold most stuff I posted, I will kick it up once, twice at the most. The fascination with the value of a part or car has been too big a part of this p*** time; thank the hoarders, the TV auction ****ola and the anomalies that show up on ebay.
Then you have the same scene at the swap meets...same over priced junk, dragged around year after year, by the same old bums.

When you p***ed on the wide whites I had for sale I understood completely. Shipping costs are through the roof. I ended up selling them locally through Craigslist but I would much rather they had gone to you or another HAMB'r.

So what are you asking for this rusted out 1965 Chevy, 4 door, station wagon, non-running 6 cylinder, power glide trans? Well, I turn down an offer of 14K, just last week.

I don't often check the cl***ifieds-there just aren't many parts for a '61 Chrysler out there.

I only sell through the HAMB Cl***ifieds, or local swap meets. I don't advertise parts on Fakebook or Insta. I ask what I think the market price is, and let it ride until I drop it low enough in the coming weeks, or it gets forgotten off the back page. But I sure do welcome anyone giving me an offer. I even like trades occasionally.

I tried a "garage sale" type ad a few years ago to help reduce clutter (both in the cl***ifieds and my garage). I listed a bunch of stuff in the same ad, added a few new items now and then, and would remove as they got sold. Some of the original stuff was still on the ad when I finally gave up.

Sometimes the best stuff I ever sell on the HAMB is when a guy just PM's to ask if I have a certain kind of part. I just sold a single flipper hubcap yesterday cause a guy asked if I had any. Sure did!

    I see no problem.
I cruise the parts for sale and wanted sections daily.
I don't really need anything and nobody wants what I have.

Yes they are not. I either save what little bit I have or give to friends.

As I stated in my first comment. I've had less sales on here in the last few years than previously. I would guess in the last few years more than 70% of my selling has been either on Facebook or Craigslist and those parts have gone all over the world. One of those sales was a Hemi that went to Australia and the guy made all the shipping arrangements plus sent money to cover lumber costs for the skid and crate.
Shipping costs ae going up and sometimes shipping costs more than the part. So if you don't want to pay the tab for shipping don't whine about it or expect the seller to include it. Another thing many do is ask about a part and shipping and after figuring the cost and letting them know they can't even take the time to answer

  15. Yeah, I currently have a bike going to Australia, the shipping cost 50% of what the actual selling price is.

About 6 weeks ago I found a pair of tires for sale on the cl***ified adds, just used for mock up, ok....

Then I seen the price and the funny thing is I priced an identical pair the week before at my local Walmart, same brand, type, size etc and Walmart was 20 bucks cheaper PER tire and no shipping costs. So I went to Walmart. Com and double checked myself, sure enough 40.00 cheaper a pair and in stock at my local store.

I figured he must not be done mocking up with them!

I like the parts cl***ifieds section, and check it out regularly. I've used it to buy a lot of parts and sell a few. Always been treated fairly. Any cl***ified venue is going to have a certain level of background noise--especially a free one.

That being said, I do have a few gripes:
    1. Do yourself a favor and post a damn picture: Ads without pictures are essentially invisible. And sorry, "send me your address and I'll email pictures" doesn't cut it. If you can figure out how to email a pic, you should be able to figure out how to post one. Hell, Ryan even made a tutorial on it. It's easier to learn than setting the gap on your points.
    2. Put some dimensions in your ad: For certain parts, 2 minutes with a tape measure is all you need to substantially increase your pool of potential buyers. That oddball seat, gas tank or radiator shell doesn't just fit the car it came with--it could fit into any number of hot rods. But how do we know if you don't give us measurements?
    3. Skip the manefesto: Want to turn off buyers? Include a paragraph that begins "No scammers!!!" (preferably all cap) and then launch into a diatribe about about lowballers and ********ters. Face it, the scammers and lowballers don't give a **** about your "rules." That little text tantrum might make you feel better, but it's a red flag to real buyers. Nobody want's to deal with a loon carrying a chip on his shoulder.

Man, you said it right, and #3 should be required reading for eBay sellers, too. Some of these guys have paragraph after paragraph of diatribe pasted into every listing, but for the actual description you're lucky if you get "condition is used". Nobody is reading that. Nobody.

I check the cl***ifieds daily, sometimes a couple times, I just picked something up last week as a matter of fact.
I do look at multiple sites daily and have a pretty good idea of what going prices are for the items I'm interested in, so if I see something I need at a decent price I'll grab it, other times I just roll my eyes and scroll on past.
With that being said when I sell something I always list it at a fair price, usually the middle of the field for what others are selling for, something fair for me and the buyer. I really really hate flippers trying to offer me half the asking price of my fair listed price, just can't stand those ***holes.
So list your stuff fairly or keep bumping btt btt btt btt btt week number 817 still btt

eBay is kind of a sad case. They've changed their rules a lot over the years, and not all for the better. I lost track of all the ins and outs of everything.

One of them, a buyer has up to a year to return something or at least scam for a refund no questions asked, basically. I ain't LL Bean, if I sell something that means I don't want it anymore. "All Sales Final" is not part of their routine. I can (sort of) understand the boilerplate when the deck is stacked like that. There's no provision any longer to add negative feedback for bidders that don't pay, either.

    Hey, @Lloyd's paint & gl***
I see your ***** and I'll raise you a squabble.

    Just sayin'...

There was a rare 6X2 intake for sale in the hamb cl***ifieds. The ad had been up for over a year, yet the price remained the same and no takers.
    Until Rickybop came along.

If you don’t want to see those parts again put the user on your ignore list and say goodbye to the ad. Most times those seller are not even active on the main forums so you are not missing out.
unfortunately you can’t do this anymore on eBay for ****py sellers.

I did this for some of the car sellers on here because it bugged seeing the same 2 pages of cars being bumped up every week.

It doesn’t bother me to see them pop back up, but it is kinda fascinating that someone will spend so much of their time posting “back to the top” every single time they’re allowed to do it for two years creating 6 PAGES of their own replies for a junk part trying to get $200 out of it.

I haven’t bought much out of the cl***ifieds here in a while but there has been many a time I tried to and was about 1 day too late. The good parts and good deals usually go pretty quickly, so there isn’t anything other than the original post and it’ll drop down pretty fast. I’ve had good luck selling here, on Instagram, and on eBay where no, you are not required to accept returns.

I very seldom sell anything, but when I do I have a friend that is a regular vender at swap meets that I just send them with him and he handles it. Of course I pay him for doing it. A lot easier for me and he knows what things are worth. Often times like at most swap meets it's other venders that often times buy and resale at the next meet. I doesn't matter to me who purchases them as long as we're both happy.

  30. I have bought and sold on the HAMB and have been successful with both ..
Nothing wrong in my eyes with people selling their parts here and not participating in the forum ,but I do check to see if they have had other successful sales here , and like all else if too good to be true ,generally is ....
