I agree. It has had a little bit taken out of the roof. The vertical welds are factory, the horizontal ones are not.

Agreed...there is a real easy solution to verify...2 measuring tapes...Hamber with 1 of 2 tapes with unchopped Coupe and other Hamber with questionable Coupe and other tape measure...I await the Holee Cow it is chopped...

It truly makes the story more tasty knowing it was an old Hotrod...

  6. 20211109_102826.jpeg about the chop question, In at least one of the photos you posted, you can see where the A pillar was cut. So I'm on the "it was chopped" team.

If you grab that other cowl I could use your old one. Someone did some cutting on the firewall on my 2nd coupe.

For reference, my unchopped original has no horizontal cuts. The quarter window is around 11 inches, back window 7 and front around 9.

Im positive the top was cut off of mine, i just dont know if its lower now or was replaced, if it was chopped its in the sub 2 inch range cause these look goofy with chops generally and mine looks great imo

Isnt that odd? I know the dodge cowl is supposed to be extended compared to the plymouth Screenshot_20211111-090156_Gallery.jpg

You could have a Dodge dash in a Plymouth body

That last pic makes it look like your posts are decently slanted. If so you have a 34. 33 are much more upright.

The extensions on the Dodge almost look homemade. It's as though it was an afterthought for Dodge. Wouldn't be too hard I wouldn't think to extend the cowl to make it a Dodge.

That 33 cowl from @dwollam should cure things for you. Repair the rust and give you the extension. You might have to do a little surgery regarding the posts if you're adapting a 33 cowl to a 34.

That gen Mopar almost looks chopped from the factory. Yours has gotten a bit of a haircut I think, but not much… just a subtle change that makes it look even meaner.

Did you buy that from a guy in coos bay? Looks identical to one I saw. He said it was chopped.

I'm thinking '34 Dodge coupes and convertibles had the cowl extension and the '33 Dodge didn't.? My '33 Dodge cowl doesn't have the extension, but it could have been a sedan cowl. Sedans in either year did not have extensions.

Looks like a great project Oliver. Will follow your progress with interest. For a bit of inspiration here is a pic of an early 60's New Zealand built Hot Rod with front Ford spare wheel cover guards and full rear guards. Could be another option for you. This car has a shortened 36 Ford Chassis and was built by Bill Perriton of Hamilton, started in 59 and finished in 61. I have been lucky enough to have it for a few years now. It's nice to have something a bit different and 33,34 Mopar bodies certainly have the right look. Good luck with your car and congrats on your other new arrival. crown jewel.jpeg

Beautiful car! Motorcycle fenders up front and bobbed rears are still an option! I like maroon too!

Is this period? Or is it too modern and i should find an original box? Screenshot_20211111-043810_Chrome.jpg

  30. No Oliver, i would say that is not very traditional but it is your build. We all will have our opinions. I would use a cross steer box like the 625 Saginaw. There are other choices out there also.
