This violates the first rule of old carism : "Start with the best one you can find."

Every extra dollar you spend on the front end will save you at least ten down the line.

I guess I jinxed things, posting this cars progress. He's running out of money. So tomorrow, I'll be installing a new 350/350 back into the 48 Plymouth street rod. If this guy gets his money up, we'll get back to this thread.

My favorite line for customers wanting "show cars" was "show money ", 160 hours up front then again when that was drying up over and over until completion. Parts and materials as needed.

  11. Got the new 350/350 installed in Vanessa Bryant's 48 Plymouth.. wonder if she's actually going to drive it, or will it sit like the rest of the cars..

Jay!, long time. Feel like painting a roof on a 56 Chevy 2 door post? PM me either way.

  13. I guess my hourly wage, dried up the funds. Happens to the best of 'em..

  16. But they lack the piece under the rear body. That’s a fun one to build.
    So is the rear crossmember.
I’ve done one of those floors. I silicone bronzed the seams. Looked like a one piece floor.

  17. The fun part is the rain gutter. I have a friend with a CNC sheet metal brake. Send him a sample and bent the pieces. Saved me some time.
Looked OE. The fun part was making them turn

  18. I think Im going to have to build that piece. I kept the original off the car, thinking I'm going to have to replicate it, myself.

  19. Generic is, as generic does.
    60hrs into this, so far.
    Things are lining up, tho.
As well as can be expected

  23. I just replaced inner and outer rockers, and the 4 floor boards on a 57 150 2dr sedan. I would never waste time on a 4dr anything. It amazes me how many I see being brought back to life. People would be sick if they knew how many we "recycled".. 4drs are parts cars with horrible proportions

  24. Mr. J.Fishbeck, you must be a very young person, with a lot of energy. I use to tackle items somewhat like you do, now, I am old and worn out. Yes, I am called lazy, I really am just hurting physically from working way too hard when I was young. Automotive body work in the end wears your body out.

  26. I'm almost 50yo, but I have to say, you just have to want to do it. Im getting new aches and pains, but that's to be expected. Most of them come from cheap people, wanting me to work for nothing. I kid.. or am I !? Haa

  27. So do I.. part of why I do it! I love what I do

  28. What about a 4 door hardtop?

  29. This was a 60 4dr HT Impala fron the Ozarks. It was the most comfortable chair I've ever made. Plus, I don't have enough friends, to warrant driving, a quattro port..
