Looking at the rear quarter panel in this shot of Landy's car sure seems to support the numerous claims of body flex in the hardtop B-body altered wheel base cars. The post cars apparently didn't have this issue (and the post cars look much better IMO....)

possibly McCandless or Jim Thornton. Not sure, unusual paint scheme without Ramchargers logo.

The 1963 reference on the quarter panel was Jim Thornton in the SS/A class and Herman Mozer winning the SS Eliminator a day later over Al Eckstrand at Indy 1963. Thornton & Mozer were both in Ramcharger team cars.
The photo shows a 1965 Coronet likely aluminum package for AFX. First Hilborn use for Chrysler was Jan 1965 test at Carlsbad CA. Tested again at Detroit Dragway April 30, 1965 by Ramchargers. [Proving Ground by Jim Schild pg 75-77][Ramchargers by Dave Rockwell pg 176-178]
Drivers were Thornton & Mozer with Lindmood on occasion. McCandless had his own A990 1964 & 1965 cars he ran in the southeast mostly and National events when possible.

I think that is a tribute car (note the 4 headlights and the stance).

You guys are killing me that's the 64 Ramchargers hemi car that Mike Guffey has it was from a photo shoot I think for Mopar muscle around 92 or 93 that was with the 65 front end before the restore 0713161057.jpg

  22. I think you are right. I also think the reason it does not have Ramchargers on it is that a Judge in Michigan bought the rights to the name Ramchargers and will not let anyone put it on a car without paying him some relatively big bucks. Even if original car, he still wants the bucks.

  23. One of my auto tech instructors from years ago, who was pretty familiar with these Mopar factory racers, said this phenomenon was known as "The Hamtramk Buckle". Of course he also referred to the unique sound made by the Mopar gear reduction starter as the mating call of the "Highland Park hummingbird".

Absolutely loved the S/S Class it had some of the best racing and largest car turn outs. However as F/X Class started to gain momentum I started to lose interest. This car was one of the last to hold my interest as the wheelbases became more altered so was my interest. Your mileage may vary.

I watched the evolution as it happened back then that's why my dodge has standard wheel base I did have an altered and sold it and got my 63 dodge. I agree also I liked the 62,63,64 before they started going towards the altered wheel base cars. my 63
