No they’re just steel wilwood solid non vented drag race rotors, I wish they were carbon fiber.

  2. Wow Zak! Do you guys ever sleep?:D I really dig this new build. Short wheel base cars are a hand full, but also fun in a extreme way. Ask me how I know.:) I am also interested in how you set up the rad and cooling system details when you get to it.

Thanks bud. And as far as the radiator setup, I’m going to run a remote mount electric water pump like I do on the 55 Chevy, and plumb back to the radiator with either aluminum tubing or is all AN line. With the front mount cam drive fuel pump, a normal water pump doesn’t fit on the engine so it’s not much more work to move the radiator to the back. I’m also theorizing some on weight bias and how the car will react, we will see how it works out haha.

Spent the day working on dialing the rear brakes in, took a lot of modifications for “bolt on” brake kit but I’m happy with how it’s turning out. Also happy with how the axles came out, they’re moser pieces, 40 spline, gun drilled, with light weight flanges and 5/8 studs. Also got a steel light weight profiled spool to shave a few more pounds.

Anglia chassis is back on its wheels with brakes, steering, and suspension done. Next up is pedals, then mount the body and start tinwork. We’re flying now.

Between working on this car every spare minute, working 40+ hrs every week at my day job in maintenance, and going to college full time in the evenings to get another degree, i usually sleep about 5-6hrs a night on average. Plus a 5 month old puppy I’m trying to deal with helps a ton on making sure I have something to do. Haha.

No just another associates degree from Northeast State. I have an electromechanical maintenance degree, I’m going back for a degree in engineering design technology.

Gotta swap a few parts around on my Jerico and get it mocked up in the car to make the trans crossmember, then it’s downhill from there on out.

Got the chromoly tube bent up and ready to shorten up. Then weld a couple tabs on the frame and the trans is done. Next up is pedals and clutch linkage. Also fitting the shifter, we’re going to have to make a shifter plate that will tilt the shifter over on its side toward the passenger side so I can actually shift it because it’s way to close to the seat in conventional orientation. Also this car is going to have a super short driveshaft which is pretty neat. Haha

  12. Awesome build! What's the wheelbase?

Since Radford isn't on the 2022 schedule, I'll have to drive farther to see you race, but it'll be worth the trip!

  13. I got my last 2 degrees at night, while working a PT machine shop gig 2 evenings a week. One was a AS in Mechanical Engineering and ultimately a BS in Manufacturing Engineering. Burning the candle at both ends... whew!

Yeah hopefully we’ll get another one close to that area, that was my closest race too. And it’s 91.5” wheelbase, they’re 90” factory and SEGA rules allows for 1” front and 1” rear axle deviation so we stretched it as long as possible within the rules. She’s still short though!

Very Cool project, and it is really coming along and looking great!!!

I noticed your shop was built with cinder block walls and I have not seen them used in many years, and I am 75 and spend most of my life in the building business.
Concrete blocks started around the mid 50s, but I remember the old cinder block factory near my home.

Thanks man. And yeah our garage is a block building my dad and grandfather built. The Anglia is actually being built in the basement of our house though we’re we have better heat, since it’s a small car.

They’re short m&h front runners. Gotta a vintage look and are appropriate height for the little car.

I am looking for a single magnesium front for this car now, 15x 4 wide and Chevy or ford car pattern. Any style, halibrand large or small window, or an American. Doesn’t have to match though in the slightest. If anyone sees one for sale reasonably let me know thanks!

I like it a lot. I notice the left side header appears it may limit the steering
going to the left. The right side appears to have ample clearance. In the
photo showing the motor from a head on view it is more apparent.
    Not being critical, just curious?

Thanks man. And With the headers like they are, the #1 cylinder is the farthest forward so it is closest to the wheel. But the box does turn through its full range of motion without having a rubbing issue. The nose/fenders will have to be cut for header clearance as they do stick out past the body, and the passenger side does stick out further physically partially due to the way the tubes fell together, and mostly because the driveline is offset 1” toward the passenger side of the car.

Of course Zak, that makes it clear. I am an aspiring very amateur fabricator
and ask because I like to understand what I observe. Particularly excellent
craftmanship like you have displayed here. Carry on Sir.

    Uses for junk mag wheels:

    - a chunk of it placed in the block cooling jacket will retard corrosion in the block and radiator
    - fine metal shavings make a great light show if tossed in a campfire
    - wall art

Building it super light, but still meet the minimum weight for your class will mean adding weight 'where you need it'......right!!
Anxious to see that short wheel base "bullet" go down the strip straight!!(well........pretty straight)
One of the guys I know at the local car show bought a lil Anglia with 454 and A/T. He decided he really didn't 'need' the wheelie bars so he took them off.
After one spirited launch..........he put them back on!!!!:D

With the various weight breaks and such, I need this car to end up being around 1900lb race ready not counting the driver, so every pound is important, a fourth of the weight is ate up by the iron block bbc right off the bat. Lol

BBC are a lot of things but ........NOT light!
How hard is it to make those injectors work right?! Is there a lotta swapping pills or....once it's set it's good?
What kind of CR are you planning? How bout cam specs or.............(is that something you guys don't share)
    Just curious.
