Saw this recently.

 

Several years ago I was vacationing in Oregon and came upon this truck advertising a local brewery. It became the inspiration for the naming of my orchard and the logo on my avatar. Unfortunately the brewery was closed so I didn't get a chance to taste the beer. Maybe next trip.

Does any one remember this company in Mineapolas, Minnesota. It was painted over with a paint brush in a light blue many years ago and then faded almost all off.

 

Exceptional work and clearly a master signman. I have saved these to my collection of awesome.

It says New Florence, MO in big red letters.

I had several favorites as a kid.
One was The Falstaff Can! Primer gray 55 Shivel-lay with full size Falstaff beer decal/drawing on the door. Prolly the first "stocker" pull the front tires off the ground.
The other was called DEFIANCE.A picture of a big bird swallowing a mouse but the mouse had his arm & fist out of the birds mouth & around the birds throat keeping him from totally swallowing the mouse. (I guess you would hafta see it to understand it)
Just sorry I didn't snap a picture of them.

Before the pandemic blues that struck all over the USA and the world, small businesses had a great time helping others do some work on old trucks and hot rods in various neighborhoods, everywhere. One of the nicest places was a converted gas station in a coastal OC city. They played to a market, but it is a small one, due to the fact that the buying market has 50% of its clientele as blue water and fish.

But, the coastal city hot rod scene was kept alive by a lot of people and their builds. The gas station is/was now an automotive repair business and was so until the throes of the pandemic shut down. It looked empty, as it does, today. It was sad to see the various hot rods and trucks no longer on the lot or mechanic’s stalls. The pandemic hit on all fronts.

The photograph of the old lettering on the door of the old truck, led to a different place almost 90 miles inland, at the base of the local mountain range, to H&H Flatheads.

So, what happened to the small old converted gas station in the coastal OC city? It is still there, but the doors are closed and for the duration of the pandemic or possibly future business, it is permanently closed. No more hot rods, old trucks and sedans sitting out in the gas station property.

 

Was bought new in 1948....Lettered in 49....I'm the 2nd owner ... Yes I'm trying to save what I can of the original lettering (won't redo it) but this time will be a hot rod not a farm truck...

 

I'd change that "T" to an "E" and leave the rest of the lettering alone.
