Hello, Can anyone please tell me the proper type and location for a 1939 Ford Deluxe hood arm & spring support. If I look on line the 39 Deluxe support has the bracket on the bottom with two holes in it. My car has only one hole where it would mount to the side of the firewall. I googled some pictures of the mounting and came up with at least three different ways of mounting them and I'm really not sure that the 39 has the bracket or not. The blue car has only one mounting hole, the spring is on the inside of the bracket. The gold car has the tab and the springs are mounted on the outside of the bracket. The red car has the tab the spring and the bracket are mounted on the inside of the firewall lip. I realize that the gold and red cars are 1940's, the blue one looks like a stocker but it does not have the tab.
The 39 deluxe cowl I have in my basement has just a single hole and the hood support mounted to the outside of the cowl. Drake's catalog in 2012 has them listed as a note that (1939 deluxe cars came with either 91a-16802/3 or 91a-16782/3) these also fit 1939 - 1947 pickup. Hope this helps
It’s not too difficult to drill another hole in the firewall flange to mount the second bolt, like a ‘40.
Go over on the Ford Barn. Search for Kube. I consider him an authority on 39 Fords, and he’s always been willing to help me out.
Thanks two couped up. I have a NOS set of the single hole brackets they should work fine. Does any know the dimension of the bracket that the hood support mounts to. Just so I can check and align the hood as I move forward with the front end. It looks to be about 2 inches off the hood where it mounts .
