Some good info but more of a Lucas infomercial https://www.fordmuscle.com/tech-sto...upplements-are-something-you-should-consider/ I love some of this guys videos
I have a Ranger pick up (4.0 with an auto trans). One time when getting an oil change the shop ( I knew the owner well) put some Lucas junk in the trans with a trans oil change. After a while I started to have shifting problems (at the height of the pandemic). It took two more oil changes before the trans started to shift correctly. I thought I was in for a costly trans overhaul because of the Lucas.
My dad years ago credited a Bardahl additive with screwing up a 235 Chevy engine. I recall it was in the shop for a few days. I've only used things in the past like STP and an old Alemite CD2 in engines that really burned oil. Today, I would go with straight oil only.
Hmmm, I've been adding STP to motor oil for high mileage engines for the ZDDP for several years with no discernable ill effects, but I think I'll switch to the Lucas TB Zinc-Plus Engine Break-In Oil Additive. The Lucas additive won the contest hands down IMO.
I took apart used engine that the owner admits to using STP in it. The screen on the oil pump looked like it was coated with honey and was caked on like wax. It may have reacted with something else he poured into it.
That does it. I'm switching to Lucas at my next oil change. STP only goes in my steering box from now on.
