After doing the headlight I cleaned all the rust off of the car and took to the local indoor car show. I forgot to mention that I picked up a McCulloch Supercharger for the flathead. I also found some vintage wheel covers that cover the entire wheel. I am using a '42 Merc cap for the center. Anyone have any idea what company made these wheel covers? They were made specifically for '40 Ford wheels and have no snaps on the back. IMG_4908.JPG

After the car show I cut the rear wheel wells out and built new sub rails in the rear. I then built all of the rear floor pieces and a battery box.

Next I built a hidden compartment behind the seat. The battery and several other electrical components will be hidden here. IMG_5136.JPG IMG_5137.JPG IMG_5138.JPG

After finishing the floor I modified the original seat pan to clear the trans tunnel. The my buddy Tim and I built all of the wood panels. Next I took it up to ND to the upholstery shop I used to work at. There we made all of the foam. I designed and made all of the patterns for the material and then my buddy Mike sewed it all up. I think it turned out good. They are Packard headlights that I welded the front of a Ford bucket to so that I could use the 36 Ford Lenses

Thanks Asphalt Demon. I only got 2 of them in a box that a customer traded me toward a bill. I had no idea what they were but I like that they cover the entire wheel

After mocking up as much as I could I tore the whole car down to a bare frame. I took the frame and chassis components to the powder coater. Next I assembled the chassis back into a roller. I then put the engine, transmission and exhaust back in.

I guess I’m way behind on posting the progress of this build. Here is the final result of the mad dash to get the car running for my wedding 3+ years ago. I got it running 9 days before the wedding. Stay tuned and I’ll post some of the progress since and some of the adventures. 6B794E20-7285-49F8-AF50-CFAA9CBF3CF5.jpeg C08C3319-AEDF-4E7E-A9C1-DD36DA0F5256.jpeg 8C779D72-016B-4FEF-B5EE-54A801EE1206.jpeg 0E5C4773-F647-406F-9A5D-2D67A275DA11.jpeg 0254B96D-AD3C-4BAD-BA89-CEA18EBEF9A6.png

A month after the wedding we took the car to a show up in ND. Was able to take the old owner for a ride and get some after pics where it used to sit. We couldn’t get the car parked exactly where it used to be because a Buick was put in its place. 20. Just checking in. So great updates. I like taking the same photos of where the car was found and what it looks like after its back on the road. Keep the updates coming.

Here’s some pics from the beginning of 2019. First with a ‘59 ElCamino I did extensive sheet metal work on for a customer. Third with Rusty Rocket’s dad’s ‘50. Fourth back at our local indoor show in my booth. Fifth at a show in Sioux Falls with an AMBR winner. And a couple of cruising pics. That 36 looks so smooth driving down the road. That last shot nailed it.

What else do you do in your spare time besides building garages?

That’s actually the neighbors place you see over the top of the cars.

Doh! It was because I was only looking at the rear view! Silly me. It does look great.
