If I am not mistaken the "Mystery Willys" ran out of "D & D" speed shop in Bristol, Connecticut. I think the Willys is now in Maine.
Yes it is. And Bob has this car or a clone as seen at Bruce Larson's get together this past November.
"The Blown Hearse" ran out of "D & D" Automotive in Bristol Connecticut. IIRC the owners were members of the "Drag and Run" car club, along with Al Oakes and others.

Wrong but close The Blown Hearse ran out of D&E Automotive (it's printed on the roof edge) in Terryville CT. The D was for Dicky Doyle and the E was for Willie Eckstrum (SP?). Better view
Well. I was wrong again. But, I will tell you this, I arranged for my friend, Tiny Reid, R.I.P. to get the 348 / 409 blower manifold from "The Blown Hearse". Tiny was into W motors. Tiny later let the manifold go to Paul, I don't remember his last name, but he has the dragster with 2 W engines in it.
Don Nicholson's older brother. He was not killed in this car, but one owned by Ray Hawkins and Pat Akins, blown flathead, car lost a wheel at San Fernando, 1959.
Eddie Hill was one of the most innovative racers I have ever met. His early dragster days were before my time, but his Nuclear Banana and his TEXAN drag Boats were right down my alley. His Drag Boats were plain Jane with no extra bling in the looks department. White, greasy hand prints all over it. Everything that held fluids like valve covers, oil pan , V drive all leaking everywhere. When he lined up to race set world records! He was the man!!!
Herman Mozer at the wheel of the Ramcharger's '49 Plymouth in C/Altered powered by a '56 Chrysler hemi. The team was already experimenting with long intake ram tubes and exotic exhaust as shown here at the 1959 Detroit Nationals. While it looked odd at the time we all know how those experiments with ram induction eventually turned out for the Chrysler Corp.
At the 1959 Nationals held at Detroit Dragway another rising star won his class. Here is Doug Cook driving his '37 Chevrolet in C/G. Doug from Compton CA turned the 1/4 in 13.17 @ 105.88 mph. Doug later went on to be the driver of the famed Stone, Woods, Cook A/GS '41 Willys.
