I haven't been up close and personal with a coyote but I'm getting in line for a ride.

    define "hard".
Honestly, I don't know what architecture the coyote is based on.....I think 5.0, but if it's 4.6, it won't fit without a new frame clip in your '55.
Where does one obtain a Coyote from?.....other than Ford Racing crate motor.
Alot of what will be needed will be based on what your car has now. A stock wiring harness probably ain't gonna be compatible/usable with the Coyote wiring harness/ cpu, so there's that. Brake upgrade is almost a necessity. New fuel system, etc etc just to mention a few.

The Coyote is a 5.0 liter, naturally aspirated V8 engine from Ford Motor used to power sports cars like the Ford Mustang and pickup trucks like the Ford F-150. Featuring a dual overhead cam (DOHC) design, in a V configuration, the Ford Coyote architecture has been part of the Ford Modular family since 2011. The engine has seen some revisions since then, the most recent being in 2018.

This engine was first engineered for the Mustang GT so it could compete with the GM 6.2L LS3 engine used in the Chevrolet Camaro at the time. The Coyote had to remain the same size as the outgoing 4.6-liter V8. It was also Ford’s first implementation of its Twin independent Variable Cam Timing (Ti-VCT) technology on a V8 engine, a feature which considerably improves fuel economy and power delivery all while reducing emissions. The Ford 5.0L Coyote engine powers the following vehicles:

    • Ford Mustang
    • Ford F-150

"The (5.0) Coyote had to remain the same size as the outgoing 4.6-liter V8."...................that's confusing. I know my 4.6 is wider than the 5.0!?!?

Here’s one. Alison ch***is. Extremely well done. Told me he had no choice but install a front clip so decided to modernize everything. Rich, the new 5.0 is the latest iteration of the modular architecture that began with the original 4.6, so its much wider than the old 5.0 push rod motor.

Thanks for the clarification. I suspect you guys just gave Beer Money a new definition of "hard", lol.

Here is a 55 we came across in Missouri back in April. He said it was a coyote, but I have no idea since all new motors look the same to me. Not sure what all it took to do it.

The Coyote was designed to be slightly smaller then the old 4.6 DOHC to help with packaging.

Same top and intake tubes as the red/white 56 wagon and it’s one for sure. Nice Crown..
