One way to insult a 56 ford want-a-be is to have it with a ****ty top. One of the best features on a 56 Ford was the hardtop..

One of the coolest ‘55 kustoms out IMO, for whatever it’s worth.

  4. My wife was torn between a 56 Ford or Chevy wagon. We ended up with the Chevy. Showed her the pic of this 55.
Wonder how the wagon would look

Very long story, but I recently acquired this '55 Delray via a long time good friend of mine, Mike of Mikes Metalworx.
It was in a rear ender with zero frame damage. Mike acquired it from the previous owner and already repaired the sheet metal and several other items prior to us making the final deal. I immediately listed and sold my blown chopped and channeled '41 Chevy pee-cup and brought it home. A '55 has been my dream car since I was a teen.
    After the accident:

While Mike was replacing the mangled sheet metal and fixing other known issues:

The day I brought it home:

...and today after the wheel and tire swap. Rocket Racing Fuel Series wheels & white pinners. The Supremes didn't have the 4" + back spacing I needed with the drop spindle/disk brake conversion. These look pretty close and they are much lighter aluminum.

Next is a carb swap and stance, I'd like it a bit lower. It already has new tubular upper/lower control arms (thanks Mike), 2" drop spindles, 4 wheel discs w/hydro boost, Winters rear end, Dutchman axles and 700R4 trans. The p/o replaced the nicely built but tired 350 with a stock 350 and a Ididit GM column shift. The Edelbrock 650 Carb is shot, literally leakin' from every seam and orifice. I have a brandy new Edelbrock 1406 that I'll swap out as soon as my new an6 fittings get here.
Here is a pic of my '41 I just off'd.

I'll miss it, as it was a real attention gettin' neck breaker, but the '55 is far more practical for me and the ol' lady. I had her at Vintage Air, haha.

Lots of changes coming still including new paint. Same color but with a platinum pearl for a lil pop, probably some lake pipes and white interior. Going for that 60's blvd cruiser vibe that I fondly remember from when I was a little kid living off Van Nuys Blvd behind the GM plant on Lanark in the mid 60s-early 70s. I had very young parents, pops had a '64 GTO and mom had a '59 Thunder Chicken, so rad cars have always been in my blood.

I am loving the green '56 above. Note what looks like a 4 door sedan rear quarter window beltline molding used on the front door, I love that. It's custom, it makes a smooth transition from the windshield molding, and it doesn't require an expensive set of 210 2 door sedan trims, this would be a great idea for a 2 door sedan conversion car.

That's the kind of cool idea I could see myself using in the future.

  26. This thing is BAD***! Only thing I would do is paint the edge of the rims red. I think every car with full hubcaps should have the edge of the rims painted red, regardless off the car color.
