History Do You Own A Car From The Year Of Your Birth (Purposely)?

I always wondered about this with other guys. I was born in 1962 & no offense to those who love their '62s...but there is not really any cars made in '62 that I would purposely buy to keep. If I was born a few years earlier or later, I would be all set

We share a birth year. I did own a 62 scout at one time that was pretty cool. Have you considered a 62 falcon, maybe as a gasser or street freak, I know that is not everyone's favourite here, but caught my attention as a teenager, when I walked past one after school to pickup my mom’s car to cruise the loop until she was done work. Ahh the good old days.

 

I bought a 61 Belair mostly for that reason, but never did get to far building it, and sold it after 12 years.

But I bought my 62 Chevy II without knowing that it was built in 61, and I kinda like that about it. Also, the blower on the 427 in it was cast in 1961.

I can’t think of anything built in 1949 that I’d want. Maybe a ‘49 Ford Club Coupe - I did have a ‘50 once.

 

No, not many of the 1959 models looked very good to me, other than the Corvette, and I'll never be able to afford one of those.

 

I would be very limited in choice as no cars or trucks were produced for private use till October 45'

 

I had this old Dodge sedan with a bashed in fender and I swapped the body with a Plymouth since Canadian Dodges and Plymouth's are essentially the same car and with all the mix and match, I'm not sure if it became a 1951 or 1952. Then again, maybe my folks lied to me as to when I was born.

 

My dad had a '51 Ford woody and talked about it until the day he died at 100+. Since I was born in April '51 I always thought buying one to take him back down memory lane but it never came to be. And now they are definitely out of my price range.

 

I have a '50 Ford 2dr Sedan and a '50 F1, on purpose. Yes, I am an old guy born in 1950. Although I am selling the sedan after 27 years of ownership and many miles of fun. Can't sell the F1, wife bought it for me in 2006 for my birthday. Ron

 

My wife and I were both born in '57 and we have a '57 Chevy that we bought in '77, but we didn't buy it because of that, we just sort of happened upon it.

 

There are only minor differences between my 50 chevy truck and a 53, but it has nothing to do with why I bought it.
My better half is closer, she is one year younger than the 1960 Lincoln Convertible.

 

I wanted to do one from 1954 my year of birth but couldn't really find anything I liked other than a 1954 Stude coupe. Then got in an argument with myself over should it be from my birth year or from the year I was conceived?

 

I was born in 62 also and can’t think of any cars that year I’d have to have, I guess that’s why I have two 31’s, 31+31=62 so it works out.

 

Yep, I purposely bought this 48 coupe because we were the same age. I got it to see which one would wear out first......guess which one is in the worst shape..

 

I think I have only owned two cars from my birth year and neither were on purpose for just that reason. And, anything that applies to is also off-topic for here since I am a ‘72 model.

 

No cars in '44 so I had to settle for a '42.

 

I just happened to get lucky being born in 1957 and also owning the most beautiful car produced in 1957.

 

You could get a tank destroyer or something like that!

Yes, I bought a 1950 Ford coupe from a friend that needed to sell because of his health, I had big plans for the car but the more I did the more needed doing, I finally sent it down the road.

The car drove great and was fast with the 351 Cleveland, disc brakes, the car was mechanically in good condition but the body and trim needed a lot of work. HRP

 

Nah, 1977 was smack dab in the middle of the malaise era of automotive styling and performance. Although I could be talked into a Burt Reynolds TA from Smokey and the Bandit.

 

Wife's 55 same year as her. Haven't found a 43 yet.

 

I have a 1960 Schwinn, but did not buy it because it was the same year as me.

 

I was born in Feb. of 1950, my uncle bought a new 1950 F1 in October of '50. I grew up around that pickup and put many miles on it working for him on the farm. He parked it in 1969 when he bought a new GMC. I tried for years to get if from him, but he always had plans to fix it up again. He finally gave it to me a few years ago. It is a work in progress, but I'm glad to have it. Bottom pic is of me, my uncle, and my cousin.

 

The choices for 1945 are slim.

 

I had a 54 210 for several years.

 

I was hatched in ‘67, I’ve got a ‘48,’56,’57 & a ‘68. I’ve had one ‘67 but it was just by chance that I bought it. There aren't many 67’s that I prefer over the year before or after. There is one though, a 1967 corvette coupe L79, I can’t imagine ever being able to buy one of those.

 

I believe there is a happy birthday in order for the Hay man today
