The evolution of Hotrod taking a more elegant Street presense...it did happen...because that was necessary to get the girls too...Hotrodders need sweeties too so the Custom guys have to share eh!!...:D

Anybody in the know have any info on this plausible vintage Hydrid of sorts?

Stogy said "...because that was necessary to get the girls too..."

Girls & hot rods: I had a date with a girl that was somewhere in the top finishers in the Miss Teen America thing. I had been working hard all week finishing up the Olds swap into my '38 coupe. but didn't have every thing quit buttoned up in time to pick her up. The mufflerless exhaust ended just in front of the rear axle the carpet not back in & no wipers. I took the coupe any way, it's all I had. On the way to her house it started to rain so after I picked her up I had to go back home and run a vacuum line to the wipers. The nice theater was the Rheem Theater in Moraga. We never got there. I got stuck behind a Greyhound in heavy rain and the wipers had a hard time keeping up. We hit a deep puddle at pretty good speed and water came in through some unsealed places in the floor boards. Over the exhaust noise I barely heard the words "....piece of shit!" She got home early. By then it had quit raining so I cruised Main in Walnut Creek for a while & sawed off a '55 Chevy on Newell Avenue. You don't need no stinking' beauty queens!

...:D...You know Sixball, I have not had much luck with the ladies in the offbeat cars I've taken them out in, in fact I had quirky shit happen as well...I just think it wasn't meant to be...

But a little gas pedal and exhaust notes rattles ones head back into reality quickly eh!!...but the babe radar never turns off really...two of the dates were in borrowed classics one a 57 Chev 2 dr http...that was a fun one at the drive in...but that night ended really f'd up with my old friend pulling a fast one on me...man was I pissed...

I think the trick is to get the Ole Hotrod bellied up a bit 1st...my missus isn't nuts about my love of primitive but shares the fun every once and a while and always encourages me to get out in it...so I do...

It's OK, that girl smoked and kissing her was like licking an ashtray. It was going nowhere. I wouldn't let her smoke in my car. With all her hair spray she was a fire hazard. :D

  12. So my wife hates all my cars. It doesn't matter what I decide to drive, she hates it. It seems like every time she gets in one, it breaks down. I can drive any of my cars and usually never have a problem. Put her in one and it's guaranteed to break down, and it's stuff that will never break any other time.

@Stogy Vern Houle and Jack Henry bought a Riley that had been traded in on a then new Mercury sometime in 1938. They swapped out the 4 cylinder for a 221 Ford. The rear axle was replaced with one from a Chevy. Chrysler hydraulic brakes were adapted to the backing plates. Lincoln Zephyr gears were used. Scintilla vertex magneto, Pete Bertrand cam. Bohnalite heads, intake was an experimental Ford with a big Buick carburetor.

...GMC 6 powered and not the 1st time shown here but I like seeing the evolution the Jalopies made over time and this sure went from Gow to Wow without question...

    Quoted from written history...

"The nose was a Frank Kurtis V8-60 midget unit, the body was a 1927 Ford which was mounted on a modified Model A classis with torsion bar suspension. The car ran 140 at El Mirage in September 1948."

Shared by @loudbang at the link above...

Quoted..."Mansfield, Ohio’s Virgil Cates. Known as “The Flying Junkman”, Cates’ began running the ’33 in the 60’s, as a Chevy powered C/Gasser before pulling the front cap, bolting on a Model A radiator grille shell and declaring the car a C/Altered. With it Cates won the NHRA World Championship Comp Eliminator title in 1965."

@Stogy more Indy than you realize. Unless I'm mistaken the bodywork was done by Lujie Lesovsky and the radiator was from one of those 35 Ford Ford-Miller Indianapolis racers.

A wood plank? That's a helluva lot of battery too but alas it was a different time...anyone know what the rad is off...quite the offset on the tank...

The Driver looks like a young Paul Newman and isn't that @VANDENPLAS and his Merc just behind watching the action unfold?

T-Shirt with it on the back with that plain Jalopy Journal lettering with a smaller Hoodlum, Hamb Logo and Hotrod profile on the breast area...I don't know if I want to give the Law a reason to follow me around...
