And I was searching and searching for the windshield wiper switch.... concerned it would not work with the '60 wiper motor.. and all is good. gonna work really well. Found it and test fit it.

  9. With my car, I figured it would be a 6-month project, but more like 2 years. I was constantly "losing" parts and swore never to put anything on the back row of shelves. I "found" many lost items on that back shelf.

I had painted a lot of small interior items and put them in copy paper boxes, wrapped in masking paper. Of course none of the 3 boxes were marked and I'd misplace one box at any time.

I did go excel with the wiring harness, just to keep track of any custom changes I made while doing the wiring.

Yea..... I do have to go down into the parts room and spend a full day with a fistful of sandwich bags and small boxes to gather, mark up and sort what I need to finish.
I just then get distracted and find something that was missing and now found, only to rush back to the shop and lose 2 hours.
I admit it.... I am like a crow..... I see something shiny and off in that direction I go.

I've been lucky that the slow 4 year pace of my 59 build allowed me to search out parts and wait until I found deals on ebay etc. I got my Spectra fuel tank on the flea-bay for $100. Had a small dent and was an Amazon return I was told. I soldered in a future return line fitting if I ever go FI or a pressure regulator instead of the dead head electric pump I have now which has been working well.

  13. While fuel tanks are being mentioned, I have some info to add. The 1988 Ford F150 has a low pressure pump in the tank that is 7 psi according to what I have read. That year uses and external pump for the efi. If you are wanting an internal pump that could be exchanged for a high pressure pump later on, that would fill the need. It looks just like the h.p. pumps so the swap is easy.

It took me two years to learn how to post pictures here and now you suggest making a spread sheet for parts. I prefer to make it like a game... nothing like a good scavenger hunt to make the day.

  16. what are you going to have for an interior? I'm wanting to have a "utility stock" which I have the original door panels on new cardboard (glue or staples) and then maybe use the floors out of a crown victoria police car, or a bedliner as my floor cover. as it did have bare metal, and I want to have some covering.

    Well,.. yea.. actually 2.
This home we bought is strange and unique... there is a long breezeway that attaches the shop and my studio to the main house(never really been there,.but they tell me its nice.)
Also, the former owner/builder made a tunnel that connects the shop/studio to the house.. which exits into the house's basement... I house about 40-50 feet long.
Within that tunnel, there are 2 spare rooms that were used for storage.. 12x20 app...I claimed them when we bought.
so yea. Parts rooms..... I have 2 dodge Hemi blocks I dragged down there....

So basically, you and @Moriarity have horded almost 60% of the nation's collector parts/car supply?

  27. Nah, I recently needed an oil pan gasket for a y-block and neither of the local big chain parts stores in town showed that they could even get one anytime soon. I called my good friend Sid Drapal (Nostalgia Sid’s Dropped Axles) whose shop is closer than either parts store and he had 9 in his “parts room”. :D Jeff and Mark aren’t the only two with good inventory...

Guys who have never done a full build don't realize how long all the little stuff takes to complete. Especially in your case when you are trying to use the right parts vs any old part. Nice to see the project coming along. What made you go with the steel ceiling? Looks cool but I've never seen it done before.
