If your 352 is making around 325-350 hp, the 5/16" line you should be fine. I guess if you wanted or felt the need to you could plumb in a temporary fuel pressure gauge. Find a long uphill grade in fourth gear to see where your at.

  2. Is it weird I’m jealous you are at the wiring stage? That’s my favorite part of building a car…

IIRC, FE applications all used 3/8" fuel line from the sending unit. Just ran into this on a SBF swap.

    Very inspiring, Jeff! You're a go-getter ;)

  4. The 59 Ford sway bar is totally different in design to start with from 57-58. I suspect that's why it's built like it is.

  6. Your killing me man! I would love too. I’m tied up almost every weekend until June with basketball. Trust me I’ve been thinking hard about it….

  7. I used a 3/8" steel siphon tube in the fabricated tank for my roadster for years and never experienced any issues. Of course it's a smaller tank with less volume of fuel to slosh around but it always worked well.

  8. I know that's not true as I've owned a couple of early FE-powered cars that had 5/16" fuel line as OEM. I believe the 3/8" line was limited to police and HiPo options.

  9. This is how I understand it also. Just the High Performance as in Multi carb and big CI. models. My guess is that only at high R.P.M's is it important for fuel volume. Mine is not stock at all, with full Roller top end and 3 carbs and a lot of head work. I don't want it going lean just when it starts getting fun.

late to the party, but the Lonesome Texan sure is looking good ( I mean your 57 Jeff..., not Rich. well Rich and his Custom are always looking great anyways:D).
Wow this looks to be getting close to being a driver this spring.

btw Jeff, did you notice the dimples for the og power brake vacuum tank screws?

  12. Jeff, these cars were famous for floating down the highway at 70mph. Did you change spring and shock rates to alleviate that or was that your desired result?

This is a fantastic story about your 57 Ford Custom. You did a great job piecing that floor together.
I'm not sure if I put this comment in the correct place or not. Jay in Mass.

  14. I think this is where I got it. You have to call or email them, not all parts are on the site. I really like it, handles like a Lotus... :D:D

Yup, this is where I got it from.

  15. This is where I believe I got it, I have to check my build thread. Someone came up with the source on the '52-'59 Ford forum.

Confirmed, that is where I got it from in 2017.

    Amazing!
The reason I asked because it looked so familiar.
On my other 57 with the 428,.... I bought one from them and when installed and took that car for a spin(before I did a rebuild, that car was a driving 57 with a 460/C6)... the difference was astounding!!!!
    Night and day difference.
I highly suggest anyone to get one for their 55-64 Ford and replace the stock unit..... Drivability is improved by 500%.
The factory ford units are horrible.

    @wfo guy
I "Believe" .. my front springs are from a Sedan Delivery.... been such a long time .... The front shocks are a HD factory unit I ordered a long ways back as well..... I can't remember.
And with a fresh HD front sway bar coming....I should be in good order..... I have to check... but I think the sway Bar is like @bobss396 on his 59 in thickness..1' or 1-1/8?....
I believe this will solve the floating problem.

They "roll" more in the corners. My 57 has the anti-sway bar removed and I also have 90-10 drag shocks. I drive mine the speed limit on the highway, secondary roads and it's fine. Having said that I'm not into twisty canyon, road carving driving so I'll never know the cars limits I suppose.

  22. They had one, just inadequate. The originals were 5/8, and the ones being discussed are 1 1/8". To be mentioned about handling also are the 6 leaf springs he added to the back in place of the orig. 4 leaf. I still don't like real windy days, but other than that, those same changes to mine makes my car pretty damn stable at 80-85 on a lonsome highway, and it loves the twisty mountain roads!!

Richie's car is a true driver. Jump in it and drive from LA to New York comfortably with air, power everything, great handling, brakes the whole enchilada. Mine if you drove it more than 50 miles you'd be deaf, uncomfortably hot and out of gas.

I depends on what your goals are with the car or what your willing to put with I guess. I wouldn't change a thing on mine.;)

  26. The old bar is around 5/8", I cut it in 2 parts to aid getting it out quickly. The ride is so much better, less body roll in the turns. The only down side is taking care not to knock the grease fittings off on concrete curb stops. But everyone should have a 1/4-28 tap on hand.

Another little update, and a big thanks to @PoTaToTrUcK for his help gathering these much needed parts... the headlight Buckets which are absolutely perfect and some small instrument parts.

The trick now is to put them away in a "Safe" place and not to forget where they are.

  28. Do you have your original metal plate for the high beam switch? Mine has been replaced with a bent piece of angle iron and the only one Ive seen online is over 100 dollars!
