Contempt prior to investigation so far is the message TRJ is putting out to the hot rod community. IMO

Shipping is probably the greatest cost, but you would have to contact them directly.
I just buy the occasional one now and then.

    sorry, thought it was relevant.

If you look at how cheap it is to subscribe and then look at the articles, HR has asked the advertisers what they want to sell and that drives the content. Cheap subscriptions mean more customers so ad rates can be higher.

I hope this works out, I am also waiting for the tooth fairy. I don't expect to see either one.

Rocket in Hamilton has back issues of TRJ for $20 which seems like a good deal. Jammin Gears is a neat wee mag too and only $8 odd dollars.

  9. Another small, but promising update:
I talked to Steve again yesterday. He told me he's coordinating with former core staffers on content and production, so that's very good news for those folks. He also said that because of the global supply chain problems, his printer has not been able to get paper to print on, so they're working through that as well. Just thought you guys would like to know.

D-Russ thanks for the update. Let's put on our big boy pants and stop the whining. I still miss Hot Rod Deluxe but if there is a chance Steve can bring back TRJ we should welcome it. NHRA Street Scene magazine had the same problem with getting paper so we are all in the same boat. We miss it OK!

Hoping Steve CAN make good on promise, these are most definitely trying times. I still support Hot Rod, more out of habit...newest issue has the Electric -X which certainly divided many! I'm really enthused over Speed & Kulture, and I keep an eye on Hop Up's special issues. It would be wonderful seeing print get a resurgence, it seems humanity is determined to run backwards at this moment in time...

  15. In the USA, print media is the lowest cost way to mail. I don't know the fee rate off the top of my head..... but I know it's lower than all the rest. There's a thing called "bulk rate", too....... for when you bring in a skid load for mailing distribution. I don't know the details about that one either, but it's a cheaper way than mailing a letter if the item is under an ounce.
Don't quote me, but I think old-school tapes, CDs, and DVDs get the cheap "media" rates, too.
Anyway, don't pity publishers for having to mail magazines too much.

I am not attempting to open a door to a shitshow here, I just cannot believe those people chose to desicrate an Icon like project X, this really hurts my heart! Of all the 57 Chevs out there.....! I had already made up my mind to end my Hot Rod subscription before this but this was the final nail in the coffin!

  17. I love it. It’s a ride used to experiment on new technology.
    Hot Rod did good

Judging by some of the other changes made to Project X in recent memory I think it’s a safe bet that Chevrolet has been calling the shots for a while now.
Chevy’s only desire is to showcase their latest and greatest power plant and like it or not it happens to be electric now :(

I don't know if you guys have seen the magazine out of Canada called "The Art of Rods & Customs" but the quality is the same as TRJ and costs less. So far I have liked what they have been putting in the pages and am going to keep getting it

I think I have finally figured out how Steve Coonan, the con man, operated this whole TRJ scam.
Back 1994 he came up with this elaborate scheme...that if he simply published 83 high quality magazines, and do it over the course of 25+ years, he could gain enough credibility, and the trust of his subscribers. He could then pilfer a little of the subscription money:mad:. An absolutely brilliant 25+ year scam...probably the ruse of the century...that conniving bastard ;)

Oh,dear. Nothing disparaging meant against CHR. This was a joke. See, Canadians often end a question with "eh" as a means of solidarity with the listener. https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/why-do-canadians-say-eh. I was using this as a funny sort of joke contrasting it with Henry Ford's Model A. Guess I missed the mark.

So nothing has changed since 1949. Taking flatheads out and adding Cads and Olds, taking Cads and Olds out and putting in SBC, taking SBC’s out putting BB’s, taking what you got out and putting in a LS…etc…
Next it will be electric conversions…. Still hot rodding.
