Why do so many of your images just disappear?

Most of the images that we all post should be HAMB traditional hot rod/drag race photos. 1965 or earlier with the proper rules in place. Following that rule, the photos will not be deleted. There are a lot of people that just ignore the HAMB rule and post anything despite the rulings. But, there are other reasons for deletion of photos, too.

Some of my own have been deleted by changing the title of the photo in my files, inadvertently. If I used the photo the way I first posted it, then adjusted or edited the same photo as a jpeg photo, that changes things. Now, the title is the same but photo is different than the one posted. So, the computer program is confused and places a red X on the original posted photo.

The other reason the red x is posted is that it depends on where your old copied photos are saved. If you save them on a photo storage companies business files that is ok, but not always good. They get used, but if that company freezes your account or goes out of business, then the files are lost and the red x is shown. The HAMB computer program cannot find the original photo information, etc.

So, there is no need to store your photos in a pay as you go off site storage company plan. For all we know, it may be stored in an old warehouse in the industrial area of the Westside of Long Beach so as not to draw attention and make is relatively non-descript to outsiders. But for some, it is very handy to have any photos you take, camera or phone, to be automatically stored in an off site facility. Other than an extra cost for such storage, which is a drawback. Ever try to get all of those photos back out of the off site storage programs? whew...

These days, external hard drives that are large in storage size of uploaded information, photos and files can be purchased at much lower costs due to the advancement in technology. Not only that, but they are small enough in physical size that one can use them as your own storage files. They also come in handy in an emergency when a home evacuation is necessary. All files are copied, scanned and stored, so all you have to do is grab and go. YRMV


4TB is large enough for most folks. It will be years before it is filled up. But 16tb will take a lifetime... IOHO

My brother and I were always intrigued by how those cars in the early class lanes were selected. The mixed up listings of various classes was puzzling. But, I guess if the popular classes were all lined up together, then the rest of the lanes would be empty or have less entrants.

This way, the drag cars that needed a push to start had their own, the far left push lane that led to the staging area, was available. That got used to fire up for the runs. Or, they just pushed into the staging area and continued down the drag strip until the race cars fired up heading back to the final staging areas.

The rest of the classes did not need push cars or tow trucks as the class rules designated that they start on their own. So, if the massive stock car class lanes were full, which was usually the case, they moved smoothly into the final staging area for their runs.
