...hmmm, as a Hotrod around this place I'd call it a 'short story...certainly inspired but...surprisingly less Street Roddy than many kits considering the period it's from...

Remember not all entries into shows are in fact completed yet. Perhaps they were removed to declutter...that is a good observation @Fat ASS Whitewalls...

That has an interesting story and caused a rule change on sheet metal orientation.

. . . the concept was outlawed by the SCTA (maybe not just by that one).

Few years ago remember reading that tests on 27 body found more aerodynamic backward. Guess rules stopped that

Hamber @PMD406's Fathers Hotrod at the Harper Dry Lakes who had a camera and wow this looks like an Auburn nose (confirmed at link above) on this belly panned flathead powered T...other things to note again are sealed beams, very unfinished business and utterly cool oozing Hotrod everywhere...It sounds as if he didn't participate but did some untimed runs at oh, 120 mph and obviously made the trek and man did he hang with some cool company and capture some incredible history on film...

Apparently his dad and the Hotrod met with misfortune in an accident and he survived but sold it off and wishes to this day he didn't...he is still with us at 97 years young...High Fives to you and your Dad PMD...;)

    Quoted description below...

This is Benny's Coupe. It is the result of nature versus nurture. In 1955, at the age of 15, Benny wanted to build a hotrod. Nurture followed in that pursuit. The son of a very prominent car collector, Benny's design would extol many of the classic elements including a lowered greenhouse, channeling, peaked fenders and many other modifications. These custom touches added up to a very 'continental' look. But nature was also to have significance. At fifteen, nature translated to a desire for speed. This led to the use of a 1956 Cadillac Eldorado V8 topped with a Latham supercharger. The interior sports rolled and pleated black leather and wool carpeting. Benny drove it for just a few years, before putting it into a 39 year long hibernation, from which the present owner awakened it. It is currently in its original unrestored condition.

...a bit of a Hybrid but unquestionably part Hotrod...and what a surprise already covered here by our own @Jive-Bomber at the JJ link above...;)

  20. That is Billy Belmont, ( Belmont's Rod and Custom ) from Dedham, Mass. I bought this VWT roadster from him after he was in an accident with it. I liked it better with the 1932 ford grill shell.

Actually there's a few of those within this Thread, OT engines, suspensions but overall from a visual standpoint if you don't see those details it gets a pass but it's hard to hide the bazooka out the arse end of that one...Actually I've seen a few Hotrods recently that had that humped up backside...the V thing had...perhaps it's an older T with a different turtleneck profile...

Then there's the Ole Hotrod built in 2010, sporting a TH350 with a 68 327 decorated as an early 327 and a few more non minor OT details...it's truly not a period representative of a spot on 63 Hotrod but I'm okay with it however and never pass it off as a true Traditional Hotrod for those reasons...Jerry still did a pretty convincing inspired...and I don't talk about those details generally...

...Hamber @PMD406's Dad's close friend the late Jim Culbert's Hotrod...they spent time doing what many of us in Vintage Hotrod dream off doing some day making the trip and getting some pedal to the metal in The Dry Lakes...

At the memorial link above there is a tribute to Jim by Hamber PMD that gives a more thorough life story of His Dad and Jim's friendship and also about Jim becoming quite well known and respected in the Sprint Racing Scene...They both sure had cool Hotrods that's for sure...

Read more about these Hotrodders stories in a Thread that's truly worth having a look at at the link below...

  28. That is where I bought it from Billy Belmont. It was just sitting in a garage gathering dust.
