Not mine but I have fond memories of my mini bike in the 60's. https://oldminibikes.com/forum/index.php?threads/hurst-hustler.34855/
Torkwrench- Nice looking truck, do you have an O.D. trans in your truck. I noticed the box indicated that type of trans. When we changed the designation from "S/L CV-5557 OD", it became p/n # 290 6061. Also, when we designed the S/L, the slot in shifter, allows the user to rake the unit if seat clearance is needed. FYI, just my input.
HURST- "ENGINE GRABBER". I just located this in my tool chest. We created this in 1972. One of the tests, we did was lift & move an early Hemi w/ trans. With only two carb. studs. As you know they rust in heat passages. I have used this one many times. There are a few companies that still mfgr them.
HAPPY HURST HOLIDAY I wish the best for all of the Hurst followers, not the best year but we will continue to be strong. Just a side note, On Jan 8,9 big show in Lebanon, Pa "Dragfest", car show. Linda and I will be there. Also, I rounded up 13 Hurst built cars to be on display. Regards, Don
Here's my Hurst Auto Stick 1 Shifter it was originally in my oldest brother's non-hamb friendly 68 GTO Ram Air 400/TH400-4:11 posi. Just before my brother sold the GTO I crawled under it and unbolted it from the tranny it had the nice big Super Boot but I ended up using the Super Boot on another one of my 65 Chevy II's a few year's later. I have owned this Hurst Auto Stick 1 Shifter since I was about 16 year's old. I have used it in another non-hamb friendly vehicle my original 74 SS El Camino 454/TH400-2:92 posi, then I sold that SS Elco but kept my Hurst Auto Stick 1 Shifter and I'm glad I did bcuz I have decided to use it in my 63 C10 Pickup behind my 327 with a built-up TH350 tranny. This old Hurst Auto Stick 1 Shifter needs some good old-fashioned TLC after sitting around in my barn for almost 30 year's. She's still worth keeping and I will have the pleasure of feeling my Ol'friend in the palm of my hand once again behind a nice 327 and next to my TH350 tranny, it's been along time since I used her in my last Street Rod one never forgets The First Hurst Shifter held in the palm of their hand... This type of Ol'Hot Rod History is why I became a member of the HAMB it's GREAT... 1Nimrod
Here's another one of my older Hurst Shifter's a 3sp Mastershifter I bought of another HAMB Member. I'm not sure how old it is? 1Nimrod
And here is my last Hurst Shifter a 3sp Dual Pattern W Synchro Loc. This Hurst was also bought from another HAMB Member. Thank You All for sharing your Hurst experiences/stories it's great History and I'm glad it will be in the HAMB for many more generation to glean information from in the future... (Again I'm not sure how old this shifter is?) 1Nimrod
Your SyncroLoc is early ‘60’s having the big Hurst letters on the stick in a straight line , as opposed to on the curve.Also the square top of the handle at the threads notes the early version , from just after the end of the barrel type handles.The Master Shift one is post 1970 , a base line Hurst product. That’s a nice automatic unit , you have there… although personally I am way biased to ones that require 3 pedals…
File this one under odd ball Hurst stuff. A former Hurst employee, told me he dug this out of their dumpster in the ‘60’s. Note the dent on the top of it! Possibly a prototype to the Road Runner knobs? Or maybe from the Max wedge era units? Pretty unique…eh?
Yes I agree I always enjoyed three pedals as well (3 on the tree 63 C10 now) but age sneaks up on a person fast now with bad hips and shoulders I think my manual shifting days are long gone so this Ol'Hurst Auto Stick 1 Shifter is my next Lady and most likely my last. Thank you for teaching me more about my Hurst Shifter's. There is so much great information on this site for the Original Hurst Shifter's it's great... 1Nimrod
I almost sold my Hurst Auto Stick 1 last week then realized I couldn't replace it or get a better Hurst Shifter or any type of Auto Shifter for my TH350 in my 63 C10 Pickup without putting way to many greenbacks into someone's else's hand. Plus I don't think I'd like the newer Auto stick's with a cable or that hollow noisy stick, no probably not... I have to fab up a different trans mount to put the Hurst Auto 1 on the TH350 but that's the fun part of building Hot Rod's Street Rod's & Race Car's doing it with one's own two hand's plus teaching my grandson Conner along the way. I as well will take apart my Hurst Auto Stick 1 and give it a good cleaning & makeover this summer with Conner. I believe like you and many more on the HAMB that this Ol'Hurst Auto Stick 1 Shifter was the best Auto Shifter ever made and Hurst should bring it back into production like many of us have said. Thank you as well for your help and the information on all my Ol'Hurst Shifter's. People we need more Hurst Auto Stick 1 Owner's and past owner's sharing pictures of their Ol'Hurst Auto Stick 1 Shifter's. 1Nimrod
@1Nimrod Here ya go https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/the-hurst-auto-stick-i-shifter-thread.1133682/
I have been reading all thats on the HAMB about our Hurst Auto Stick 1 Shifter's and I've come to realize I'm a Hurst Auto Stick 1 Shifter Junkie... Does anyone have any information on our Ol'friend 56sadandelivery? I've been trying to get ahold of him for about a year now. Hoping he's well... 1Nimrod
Thank you both for letting me know about 56sedandelivery and how to tell if a HAMB member has passed. He was a man full of transmission and shifter knowledge and so much more as well. I was wondering why I wasn't hearing back from him all of a sudden. He helped other's and myself with so many different problems. Rest In Peace Brother Motorhead... 1Nimrod (Dustin)
Seen this on that bay place, I've never seen this Hurst product before. A key lock system for your Hurst T-Handle? Or is it for the compliment Hurst Shifter Stick? Strange stuff! 1Nimrod
^^^^^^^^^^^^ That's not a T handle. That is for an automatic shifter with the push button to take it out of park, this lock's the push button.
