Projects 1962 Biscayne Jr Stocker for the Street Build

    I rescued this poor old thing back in 2008. I was thinking it was a great candidate for a frame off build as a retirement project. I've been retired for going on 4 years and it hasn't been touched. Found out my O.T. Drag Car takes up most of my time, all of my money, and I just can't thrash the way I used to:). So...gonna do a mechanical and get her up and running because I'm dying for something to beat the streets with. Nothing fancy here, just a blue collar, fun, street car built along the lines of a Jr Stocker. Maybe one day I'll blow it apart and do it up right. 62 Biscayne 003.jpg

    Found a nice, tight, manual box. Brakes are done. Added V-8 motor mounts IMG_3783.jpg

  6. Once it's driving, don't ruin your fun by taking it apart!
    Base model cars so so right for street racers.

    Don't forget the taller front coils and ball-joint spacers to get the front end hiked up a bit.

    I have a T-10 and a Turbo 350 with a Reverse Manual Valve Body and a 9" Converter. I'm thinking when I get to that point, I'm gonna put it out to a HAMB vote. Stay tuned!

    stock height-maybe up just a tad -black steel wheels dog dish caps--wider wheels on back,
    Like the black SS above--right look to me

    I would use the tallest lightest spring that would hold the front end up, it will have more stored energy and will transfer more weight on launch.

    300’s are hydraulic. Since he said….. for me a 30-30 340…

    My 75 year old knees understand that very well right now. I love my stick shifts and have a 5 speed for the 48 but my left knee is lobbying for an automatic. Every time I drive the 75 1 ton to the dump my knee fusses for two days after.

    As far as liftes go, I don't see solid lifters in a small block as being all that much fun for a guy who retired 4 years ago. I had the last set of solid lifters I ever want to see in an OHV V8 40 years ago in the 283 I had the 30-30 cam in and spent all too many Saturday mornings adjusting the valves. Strip only rig, that is a different story.

    Car is too heavy for a glide. In my 63 Bel-Air I had a 327 300hp and an m20 even with 2:73 rear gear and 30” tall tire it was fun!

  29. Nose down by about an inch, TH350 or 700R, black wheels, cop hubcaps, drive and enjoy! Unless the 409 gang is willing to crowd fund you, the 327 is just right! Cars are like women... the older we get, the more attractive "low maintenance" becomes!
