    Hello,

It is an ongoing problem with saving photos as Jpegs on our computer files. If any photo is saved to a certain file and that file is moved to another location under different names, the smart computer cannot read or find the original title, so, it give its simplest answer, a big red X.

It used to be a company photo storage problem when they locked out plenty of unsuspecting people storing their photos. But, these days any simple change of a photo that is not the original will show up with a red X. I changed some old photos that needed better composition and saved them. Then I put them in a year file folder and that got a different title. Now, my computer has no idea that the same photo still has the same content, but cropped, adjusted and filed as organized as I could get with new dates and information.

Others may have similar problems and if there is a lot of copying of web images and you forget to save them, the website computers have no idea where the photo location is to upload to the site. Even if you don’t copy images, but do some editing, the web computers, as smart as they are, can’t find the original and hence a red X.

Whatever the case, if you organize your files as to day and date or at least a file folder with specific titles that you can remember, then the computers will also remember. But, if you change something, it could show ramifications down the line and confusion starts.

I have changed several old photos on the HAMB with a red x on them. Or a You Tube video from my You Tube Channel that got a “no video” found, due to changing the content or the name/year, etc. So, it happens to anyone that changes something or accidently deletes the file or photo. One day I moved my hand and it accidently hit delete on a folder I was searching. Years of old files disappeared when I tried to call up an old photo. I knew it was there, but my computer just could not find it.

So, I used a recover program and found the accidentally deleted file folder. Now, when I am tired or sleepy, I stay away from my laptop or desktop computer, for fear of erasing a file or folder, with errant hand movements on certain keys. YRMV …

Then again, it may not have been any of those choices that I mentioned and it was just a computer glitch . Or, the website that the copied photo was taken from, closed their folder or renamed it. Sometimes that could also be the case. The original photographer changed the title of the photo after the copies were taken from the website. So, the HAMB computer has no reference as to where it is or was...

    Hello,

Some clarification is needed for a fact check, please. I took this film clip in 1959-60 time span. It had Doug Cook’s 1937 Tahitian Red, Chevy Coupe racing and terrorizing the C/Gas Class at Lion’s Dragstrip. In one of the races, the 37 Chevy Coupe races an all white 1940-41 Willys Coupe during the eliminations one day.

In filming back then, I remember that a company called Safeway Sandblasting had a fast coupe for the Gas Classes, B/Gas or C/Gas. By changing several items, like a complete motor or modifications to the classification motor, racers jumped from class to class.

So, the powerful photo of the darkish color Safeway Sandblasting 1941 Willys seems to be from a later era, like 1961 or??? Could the White Willys Coupe be the original Safeway Sandblasting Willys Coupe from the 1959-60 era? Bones Balough was driving his Chevy Fastback Sedan in the C/Gas and D/Gas class back then, too.

"In 1955, when Lion's drag strip opened, Bones took his '38 Chevy down there. He couldn't keep up with the guys until he got hold of a 283 Chevrolet V-8 and put in into a '49 Chevy. This was when he was hanging out with Ed Iskendarian and they became life-long friends. Bones went to work for Isky working on motors, grinding cams and dreaming up ways to make more power. "

"Bones was at Isky from 1960-66 and anything Bones wanted to do when it came to drag racing was fine with Ed. In fact, Ed would help him out. They had over 250 wins at Lion's drag strip with that '49 Chevy and after putting a big 671 blower on it - it ran 113 mph and was unbeatable!"

Thanks. Always enjoy your history lessons. Talked to Bones at a gasser reunion several years ago. Great guy.
