More driving and a little fundraiser show a guy I used to work with organized. I remembered why I don’t really do shows anymore. The driving was nice though.

  4. Got the engine back together, everything checked, improvements done, resealed with cometic gaskets, polished and polished again. Changed the diff oil in the 59 pontiac Fab craft trophy track rear. Fresh plugs, and made a brace for the wheelie bars. Fired her up yesterday. She is snappy and ready for action. Swapped out the funky aftermarket steering wheel in my '39 Chev coupe, and installed a '53 Chev steering wheel I found at the swap meet on Friday.

Pulled this old girl out today. In mothballs for the last two years. A quick battery swap and a prime of the fuel system, started right up!

  10. I began assembling the 351W after getting it back from the machine shop this winter. I was rolling along just fine until installing number five piston and rod. I was making sure I had the bearing insert oriented correctly so that the hole lined up with the oiling hole in the rod. Well, there wasn't an oiling hole in this rod, unlike the other seven. It was a new rod, a replacement that the machinist had to get as the old number five rod was too corroded to stay. I believe the oiling hole, which feeds the wrist pin with oil, needs to be drilled in this rod. Do they come from the factory without the hole? Also, another hitch: I had gotten the wrong timing set, which needed a longer chain. So the 48-year-old project has to wait another week or two before the new timing set arrives. Anyone need a brand new timing set for a Ford small block no later than 1972?

I finished the side boards and they are bolted in place. I never liked the chrome reverse wheels I had on the front so a buddy gave me these wheels and I flipped the white walls around and with the old Keystone spyder caps it looks much better ! IMG_0286.JPG IMG_0289.JPG

Squeezed around it to get to a drill I needed at the far end of the garage!

  20. Frustrated hanging around with my right arm in a sling from shoulder surgery. Wife went to work, so I snuck out in the garage and used the belt sander on my hopefully soon to be dash knobs. I'm right handed so left hand sanding took a bit of learning.

So to let the front tilt with the bumper in place the bumper must pivot also to clear the grill section. I fabbed up some brackets and hinges to make that happen I just need to come up with a couple quick release pins of some kind to hold it in place when up. I got my Auburn radials mounted on my 16x4.5 wheels, and just for giggles set them up next to the ‘31 to get a sense for how they will look. ADC95C2B-6677-43BE-ABF9-5B3003E175D7.jpeg B5846903-366E-41BA-B807-F6FE499689AA.jpeg View attachment 5370082

Cut, welded and rattle canned an old dished steering wheel. No flat ones at the swap meet.

Didn’t do much to it today. Pushed the model a out to do a quick garage cleaning and reorganizing to get some more room to work on it. 696413F9-414D-4623-9F31-6B8F53618798.jpeg
