@trollst ... Glad you're on the mend. Treat the P.E. EXACTLY like doctors tell you! My wife had a double P.E. a few years ago and it took a long while on blood thinners and monitoring to get to the point she doesn't have to worry now. I know how scary and worrisome it is! Take care of yourself, don't worry about projects, and drive the hell out of the '36! Good luck!
Thank you, I'm past it, but there were some scary days. It gave me cause to reflect on the important things, like sex, drugs, hot rods, young women, being young enough to do those things.....sadly, getting too old. my woman is the best, my kids are the best, and I got a real nice traditional rod to drive. Life is good.
Funny how it can take something like that to wake us up to what is important in life. You are a very lucky man to have realised this little life secret. Many don't.........
No longer stalled after lockdowns closed my business for fuck sake.....Just closed on my new place...im gonna build the 51 ... i love the chop and collected a lot of parts in 3 years..
This one has been on the back burner for more than 15 years and since the owner passed away I don't know if his brother will build it or not. HRP
I've been trying to finish this for 30 years. I am still buying parts so it's not stalled, just progressing slower than the speed of smell
3 projects in progress now. With winter weather comes less distractions and less mowing. The physical engine swap done on one OT and Model A getting reassembled and detailed after tear down of mock up and frame boxing, paint T roadster to get seats and controls mounted shortly. Hope to tear down mock up on T next summer and build hemi for A next winter. OT unit needs a bunch of engine control wiring sorted out around the edges as well. Just need to keep focused on the goals.
I try to have just one project apart at a time. 1937 olds is the current one, it's been in the pipeline for 50 years. Wanted to do it when I was 14 but dad was wiser and said to wait until I had the place and resources to finish it. Guess it toke 50 years to get over the fear of screwing it up. Thanks to a fellow hammer who gave me the incentive to get going on it by selling me a much need grill. That and all the good advice on this board. Goal is to have it look original but be safer and able to cruise at 70 all day long. Done alot of salvage bulids and stock restorations, this is the first with engine / transmission / suspension and frame mods, hope it stays between the ditches when its done.
I had a stalled project that I then remedied with another project which also stalled. Sold them both, took my lumps and swore if I ever got another project, which if I recall I said I wouldn't do - I would get it running driving and never knock it apart unless it was to be a short term fix/replacement. To date I now have a running driving project that I am fabbing exhaust while it is driveable. I'm making all the hard stuff off the truck then when it's time to get it together I'll cut off the old, blitz it and have it back on the road driving again. I don't ever want to look in the garage again and try to remember when was the last time I drove that thing under the tarp.
