Actually they sell shipping costs.. it’s why I won’t buy from them unless absolutely my last resort. They however are great for part numbers at I can use at my local parts store…

That is insane!!!! I went thru a similar issue, but found about a dozen Bud Light bottle caps in the pan.
Now, anytime I have an engine out, the pan is pulled for inspection of the pick up screen and a fresh pump.
By the look of the oil, I'd at minimum rinse the engine out while the pan is off. I like just pouring diesel thru the valve covers to get any loose crud out. Usually several flushes after filtering what comes back out.
Ya just need a large pan, like a storage container.

  3. Just did that this morning. Took part numbers to neighborhood parts store, 1/2 mile away, and price was better on one item locally, but drastically not, on the other.

Better to help keep them in business and there when you need them.

The motor was not making any noise except from one Lifter... Front driver side one. I worked at auto shops previously and have many friends who currently are mechanics and own shops. They all agree if it was completely starved of oil it would have made a lot more noise then one lifter ticking. Fingers crossed I lucked out and it was getting just enough oil to make everything survive.

  7. Glad it worked out. Unless you were driving it like you stole it you probably did not ruin the bottom end. I hope the lesson you learned does not turn out to be expensive. Let me know if there is anything I can do.

pretty good outcome I'd say, whoever fitted that oil pan before must have lined it with those magnets as there's no way you'd get them in there assembled.

does make you realise how robust these engines can be!

between this and all those motors out there that never really got serviced properly, if you just want a motor to start and run you can be pretty care free lol!!!
