Anyone familiar with this show on June 18 in the city park? My pal Dave heard about the show when he was in Knoxville this past weekend. It's only about a 3 1/2 hour drive from me. HRP
Well, you ( hiccup) , you se ( hiccup) , you see @@@(hiccup) HRP, the run, the run looks, looks like a good time, yea a good time.
..Yes, it is a long running affair. I've never been, but when he was alive, I believe Popcorn Sutton would be there, often with a still on display. Local racing legend and 2-time NASCAR Late Model Sportsman Champion, L. D. Ottinger, who lives nearby, would usually be there.
For some reason, most don't remember much about the event! Actually, have heard about it, never been.
I went a long time ago, way back when I had the blue 5 window. There were a lot of cars, mostly traditional and most all well done. It was, as I recall in a park. Newport is a neat little town too. Somewhere I have some pictures...I'll see if I can dig them up.
I’ve been several times (4) since living here. In a shady park, free BBQ dinner to registered cars, some very nice traditional cars, and some not so. Minuscule swap meet. Lots of give away prizes, with the SBC engine the biggie. Couple hundred cars at best.
It’s a really good show and location. I haven’t been in a couple years because of the hot rod reunion. Plenty of shade.
That is exactly what I heard, there is a lot of trees to keep the participants cool during the day. HRP
Trees are good. We don't have any here....and the ones we have are broken over from the ice storms or tornadoes.
